He is mud slow. He is a large human being who cannot accelerate well. If he is in an open field he can run in a straight line at a constant slower speed. On sneaks he might be able to get a yard via his mass falling forward.
Malik will need a wide open field. He had green acres ahead of him twice on an option and handed off.
No one on kstate was worried.

All black people are not fast. Manning would absolutely clobber him in a sprint, not even close. Quinn can actually change directions slightly in an open field and is faster. No one would ask this if Malik was white, he would be a large lumbering load. ( 3L)

You also need a strong center and two strong guards. You need to be really good at taking the ball under center. Timing between the entire line and the snap is essential.

UT does not have a powerful center nor a powerful left guard as starters. Their RG is very powerful but is a redshirt freshman and more prone to mistakes. (The dreaded motion before the ball is snapped) UT has shown to be very inconsistent the few times they have taken the ball under center. So far the best short yardage package involves the RB Savion Red (now 5 10" 220 lbs) taking the ball from a direct snap and picking a slight crease to find so he can barrel through.

I think this is what is cool about college football. Things that are easy for the pros are often times adventures for college teams. Especially for the oline when it gets loud and the defense is screaming defensive calls at the same time. But anyone who watches UT has to be worried about short yardage runs. It has not gone well. Savion Red has shown to be the most reliable but he is 4 or 5 deep on the RB chart. I dont think Sarkisian has faith this package will be a sure thing.

FSU has weak linebackers except for Deloach. Whom is really a classic free safety.

The defense has serious lapses (or is maybe just bad) when it goes into a "Prevent" type mode knowing the offense is growing to throw the ball.
