One would think so, but we live in interesting times. Ohio ignored seven state supreme court rulings to repair illegal electoral maps, what's to prevent them from ignoring them this time?
Hopefully nothing, Winester. Your side taught us all this about ignoring court orders, even up to-&-including the SC. Ye sow what ye reap, fart-face.

The difference is that the amendment in that case called for a electoral map commission. That ended up being partisan. That's also simply a delay tactic to the inevitable given recent SCOTUS decisions.

However, Ohio is different in that aspect, given they have a much larger white majority than, say, Alabama or Louisiana. AFAIK, Issue 1 calls for no such commission.

ABC News’s Allison Pecorin posted one of the most relatable Capitol Hill quotes I’ve heard in a while:

“A Senate staffer waiting for their boss at votes:

‘sometimes I feel like watching C-SPAN is like watching your dog at day care.

    Are they having fun?

    Are they making friends?’”

Nothing illegal about this, but the contempt for the duly ratified will of the clear majority is striking.

    Republicans hate democracy.

Morgan Fox, a native Ohioan who advocates against marijuana prohibition, feels voters spoke loudly in Tuesday’s election when, by a nearly 14-percentage-point margin, they approved Issue 2 to legalize and establish regulation of recreational cannabis possession, sales, cultivation, and manufacturing by people 21 and older.

“It’s been clear for more than a decade that Ohioans have wanted to regulate cannabis for adults,” Fox, political director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, told Bolts. “This should be a wake-up call.”

Issue 2 is set to go into effect Dec. 7, with the first round of new business licenses to be announced by September. But the law comes with a crucial asterisk: it changes state statute, not the state cons ution, so its approval at the ballot is essentially tantamount to Ohio voters passing a new piece of legislation just like Ohio lawmakers do. This means that those lawmakers can change the law back without voter consent. There is no limit on the extent to which the GOP-controlled state legislature can amend the 41-page initiative voters just supported; they could even outright repeal it.

Please. Citing (media) in the positive, bouts? They're the biggest liars of us all. They have no rules, nor regulations that abide them. Not a one. They're , total , CNN, FOX, MSNBC, not a one is worth a tinker's dam.

    Who then do they represent?

Specifically I am thinking of christian and law enforcement lobbying groups as well as the donor class of the 1% to put it in Sanders vernacular. The GOP establishment. Thing is Dems have one too and they act the same way in respects to passing what they are told.

there is definitely a difference when it comes to the policies of their respective donor classes but not giving a about rank and file's opinion is pretty universal in American politics. In fairness it goes back to the founders.

sure, we have a snooty republican system that pisses backwards on the hoi polloi while encouraging them likewise to punch down on their lessers.

Is that a good thing, in you opinion?

We have no left wing in the US, but instead, two corporate, donor facing right wing parties. There's no one on the side of labor or the people besides the people.

Two oligarchic flavors. Narcissism of small differences, but the differences are not meaningless. Hypocritical lip service to democracy somewhat preserves it as a value system for civil society while unabashed will to power mows it down ruthlessly.

that is just how they pander to their particular rank and file. and of course it is not a good thing but that is besides the point.

Luckily we have the ability to organize outside of the two parties. But the system is what it is. Singe member district winner take all with money being treated as speech codified in law. It's like that from sheriff's offices on up to the federal level.

"Money treated as speech codified in law" is a relative novelty.

Goes back only as far as Buckley v Valeo and cemented in Citizens United.
