Radio silence on the right, clinging to power is all that matters to the GQP.
NY Republicans speak up
https://www.courthousenews.com/new-y...george-santos/It’s not the first time D’Esposito has called for Santos to be removed from office. The New York Republican made similar overtures in January, but Santos refused to resign and the attempt fizzled without much support from GOP leadership.
In a post on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, D’Esposito said his effort to oust Santos would be cosigned by a cadre of New York Republicans — the same group that had tried to remove the embattled lawmaker earlier this year, including Congressman Mike Molinaro, Congressman Nick Langworthy and Congressman Mike Lawler.
“What he is known to be guilty of, beyond any doubt, is that he lied about his entire background,” D’Esposito said of Santos during a press gaggle Wednesday. “That, and how he defrauded Long Island voters, should disqualify him from holding this office.”
Stand fast in the ranks, kid. Stay seated at least until after Biden's first impeachment vote.
God's speed.
... and yet he, like Gaetz remains.
They’re only doing it to cover for themselves. They don’t actually care about Anthony DeSantos resigning![]()
Even if all these charges don’t go anywhere (unlikely), Suozzi entering the race seals Santos’s fate. Suozzi will crush that by 20+% in a general election.
Sorry, I need more solid proof that this will be a landslide victory, i.e., waiting for MM to provide his animated election counterview, filled with firsthand experiences in NY, travel log descriptions of the areas he has visited, and women he might have or might not have dated in NY.
Devolder's pending trial for fraud and using political contributions as a personal piggy bank apparently do not warrant any action from the House Ethics committee.
Excellent. Nothing happened to Pelosi when she ripped up Trump's State of the Union Speech.
Devolder folded.
Announced he's not running.
Looks like another attempt to expel him from the House is in the cards.
Strategy is critical here with the thin GOP House majority but the calculus seems to be different in NY than in other states in terms of the low-turnout special elections automatically benefiting the Democrats.
The question is, do you want to run your best (R) candidate against Suozzi in NY-03 with or without Biden/Trump on the ticket? It's a Biden +8 2020 seat, but it's unlikely that Biden will win by that high of a margin there in 2024. Zeldin won that district IIRC. The question for the GOP is, would the GOP candidate do better in the open race in a general election ticket in a still-solid blue state but trending red state and district, as opposed to a special election race where reduced turnout on one side or the other could skew the election?
The opportunity cost formula has keeping Santos along with his extremely damaging branding through the primaries and him getting hammered next Novemeber anyway opposed to a chance in a special election. Those guys are going to spend a lot of money to bring him down.
I hope the GOP keeps him. It will be funny.
My bad, House Ethics recommended criminal charges.
Only suspense left here is whether House GOP has the guts to expel Devolder, or instead bows to raw power math.
They may not look kindly on converting campaign contributions into gay OnlyFans subscriptions.
I didn't know Only Fans actually had gay dudes on there, thought it was specifically for women to make money. Everyone I've known who's been on OF has been a female.
No, the point is to keep him in office but primary him out, which won't even be an issue because Santos isn't running for re-election. Let Santos serve out his term but simply nominate a new candidate for November 2024 rather than outright giving the seat to Democrat Tom Suozzi which would be essentially the case in a special election. And it would be tougher to beat an in bent Suozzi than a challenger Suozzi, even if he's been in that seat in the past.
Another thing to watch is that the GOP is likely to give Lauren Hoebert the Madison Cawthorn primary treatment this spring.
damn, you're naive
"Everyone I've known"![]()
60 GOP are on record with a vote to expel. He is out.
Normally I'd say can't with the GOP's money, but then they ousted McCarthy so who knows
The campaign money passed through to Devolder's personal bank account is really hard to fade. Most congress critters are more savvy than that.
Also, the comprehensiveness of Devolder's grift is hard to ignore. There's hardly anything about his short congressional career that isn't fraud or a crime.
So Santos says he was a holocaust and 9/11 survivor scion
WC says he is a partschanger from the NW, an immigrant jamaican woman, and a polish immigrant.
UNT says he is a millionaire millennial with women throwing themselves at him.
Interesting note on modern conservatism.
