Spurs could have won Toronto game, Memphis or Miami ......even Dallas. The 3-11 is right........
The OT win against Hou could go either way.
1 point win at Phoenix is miracle.
10+ win at Phoenix after the Sons rallying back is a miracle and fluke as well.
Worst team at both offensive end and defensive. Tbh can't see another win unless the opposite team is sending their 2nd stringer or 3rd stringer.
Well, let's get the number 1 draft pick![]()

Maybe the lottery balls will smile on us once again. We'll get to draft Wemby's Sean Elliott this year I suppose.
I really want to be on-board with this, but what about Pop? Let's assume he's not altogether lost and tuned out or whatever. Let's assume he really is the x factor in Wemby winning a le, should be build a le-capable squad around him.
He's not in his 50s anymore, he's in his mid 70s. Even if Wemby is undyingly loyal to the Spurs for no reason other than growing up watching Tony or w/e, Pop's on a timer. 3 years in developmental would be a huge waste. It's why I don't understand his lack of urgency (Pop's). You'd think he'd be willing to bet the farm rather than be so conservative at this point in his career.
If you do that, you become Dallas, struggling to place talent around their star.

Philadelphia 2010

New York 1982
New Jersey 1981
Worst start for a Conference champ:

Worst start for a Champion:
6-8
San Antonio 1999
^This is very interesting. And not in a good way.![]()
As much as I like trouncing this season’s Spurs, using that logic, they could have had wins against Toronto, Memphis, and Miami soooooooo anywhere between 3-11 and 6-8 is a woulda coulda shoulda too…
Dear God, let us beat Detroit :prayingdog
Was looking at draft prospects for 2024 lol
Theres a fat PG called collier of some
Lets get him tbqh
We have and blood for PG right now
You mean if it wasn't for Wemby...
They have been 6-8 if couple balls bounced otherway. Variance
Why doesn’t anybody understand we aren’t trying to win. Winning isn’t important. This is an experiment year to learn how to win. We don’t actually want to win we just want to learn how to win and see what we got to build a winner going forward. You’re too spoiled if you expect our team to actually compete. In 5 years time, that’s when you can make an accurate look at our roster and assess who should and shouldn’t stay. As well as us being able to make the play in.
“I’m totally pleased with the game. Nobody likes to lose but I thought their compe iveness and execution were good against a very good, very talented, and a very well coached team. I’ll sleep well,” Popovich said in his postgame presser, per Jeff Garcia of KENS5.
blowout L to Clippers.
AND they ended up with the #5 pick. That's gotta sting.
I'm hopeful (but not invested in this theory) that Pop really is just watching his guys, seeing how they blend, who works with who best, what the natural tendencies are, etc., and that this weak start and his lethargic at ude towards winning is just a smoke screen right now. That the screws will start to tighten and we'll see this team start playing a lot better, hold some leads, and actually blow out a few teams before all is said and done this season. A 21-20 second half after going 7-34 in the first half. Lots of momentum for next season, and a fired up bunch of youngsters.
Deleted, wrong thread.

two top ten picks would do a lot of good for this franchise.
It hasn't done the Spurs any good so far.
6 or more rings too
It's interesting to think there's college talent that could turn around an NBA franchise, in any specific calendar year. I get that, over the years there is great talent on occasion, but the number of bust years is pretty high.
I'd be giddy seeing Pop own the longest losing streak ever as his ego deserves it, but the Pistons are standing in the way at #29.
Longest streak in franchise is 16 games last year fwiw... that should be broken.
