I mean you cant tell a crowd not to boo the opponent (especially Kawhi) when you are on a massive losing streak... He cares more about morals than winning and its just sad.
Pop forgets how he can afford his $1000 bottles of wine. he needs to go...we need some fire on the bench .. our young kids deserve it!!!

If we're going to post every Pop senior moment in this thread it's going to be longer than the Quattro thread from years ago.

The only think I can imagine going through Pop's head that would make this make any sense is if the Spurs are going to try to go after Kawhi once his contract is up. MAYBE if there's another vet star the Spurs may want to try for who might think the Kawhi booing is bad. If Pop is trying some sly recruiting, good on him. Otherwise, it seems like weird timing more than anything. I think he saw that he doesn't have the good will in SA that he might think he does.

I can't think of a guy who could give less of a about that than Kawhi tbh.

That piece of basically torched the franchise, him, he should be booed when they retire his jersey too.
The franchise icons with their jerseys in the rafters need to collectively tell Pop that they won’t show up if his jersey is raised. Muhsin Kenon was a 20/10 guy multiple times, and a two time NBA All Star and never had his jersey retired because he was a ‘clubhouse lawyer’. Kawhi was a lot worse than that.

I wonder if Pop had a senior moment thinking he was in LA when he told the fans not to boo.

I guess the crowd needs to look towards Pop for a play call on each trip down the floor. How much control does one person need?

Sorry but this can only happen in a town where Spurs is all there is. Many people in the past have said Pop is an imposter.... he is not good at all. Get this man outta here today! I've even said the FO should "promote" him to the front office and let someone else coach. Now say fire this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't actually agree with that. Kawhi 100-percent cares what people think about him. Nothing about the Leonard drama of 2018 suggests dude has thick skin. He doesn't show a lot of emotion, but bro definitely feels them if you've paid attention to all of his comments over the years. LAC is on the verge of blowing their team up, and guys may find themselves in need of a new club. The Spurs certainly aren't operating like a team trying to play the 2024 free-agent market, but they could definitely open up a max slot if they had a reason to.

Kawhi probably thought it was some kind of halftime show sponsored by KFC tbh.

Imagine paying hundreds of dollars to watch this terrible product on a 9 game losing streak.

And your reward for supporting this garbage team is having an octogenarian lecture you about booing during the middle of the game
    Septuagenarian, but close enough

I don’t think any of that was on Pop’s mind… I mean am not a mind reader so who knows? But it seems more like a case of old man yells at cloud… and also the kind of thing where you are already upset about something else, like your team having a bad low effort game, a players only meeting where you know there’s frustration… and you are already irritable and a harmless thing that has happened many times before just tips you over the edge. You know? Maybe I am not explaining myself well but I don’t think there’s any rationality in it.

Pop will eventually even alienate the sniffer crew and his fans (yes, Pop has his fans people, don’t act like this is anything new).

Wait you think this booing would actually matter to a player when it came time for a contract

"Sorry Pop I can't accept this 100 million dollars the fans booed me i would never want to play for them again"

You don't poke the bear. the bear tbh. Kobe always said if you see him fighting with the bear, pray hard for the bear.

    Kobe black mamba mentality.

This the number 1 reason why we on a 10 game losing streak. The head coach is a straight up pussy.

Spurs don't have enough caproom to give a max to Kawhi, Pop angling for Kawhi isn't quite credible.

The bear thing was a straight up cop out. He re-dressed the crowd for poor form, had nothing to do with possibly inciting Kawhi, who hadn’t done much at that point.

Sochan just said he respects what Pop did when he told the fans to stop booing Kawhi. "He's a human too". you, Jeremy. My least favorite Spur player in a long time

People shouldn't be surprised. Pop is always bending over and smiling with opposite head coaches after his team gets spanked by 20 - 40 points.

I don't see why Kawhi would want to go to a lottery team. and leave LA

He's taken the whole "it's just basketball" thing way too far. The whole point of sports is compe ion and he's been losing his compe ive edge over the years. This feels like that monumental moment where the majority realizes he's lost it. Even fans that adore him. Sadly, it's time to take him out back.
