Booing is not about Kawhi. It’s an inherent part of being a fan. You cheer your team and you boo the other team. It’s what’s fun about going to the games and it is what makes the games fun for players and fans. Oddly I was at the first Spurs game on Nov 20 and the boos on Kawhi were hardly audible. I could hear them better with Hardin.
And yesterday the Spurs played like garbage until after Pop’s announcement bc the fans got louder and that energized the players. Even Kawhi gets it. Pop is wrong about everything he says or the way he says it, even when I agree with the point he’s trying to make. I just think it’s time for him to move on. I remember Brent Barry retiring and he said he got plenty of offers to keep playing but he felt it was unfair to young players trying to make it in the NBA. Man I respect that dude. Pop is taking a job away from a young coach that could have the Spurs playing better.
We booed Kobe, Shaq, Harden, lots and lots of players that were never in our team. It's part of the game. Every team does it.

I don't give a about Kawhi these days but Pop definitely deserves to get booed for not doing his ing job to begin the season, and that takes some balls for a coach to go tell fans not to boo an opponent. Amazing coach who is one of the greatest things to ever happen to the Spurs but just doing an atrocious job this year.
First of all, Kawhi. One the one hand, yeah he got us a ring on 2014 and I appreciate it. But on the other hand, and more importantly, you don't quit on your team. You don't lie about your health and you don't breach your contract. It's unprofessional and it's betrayal.
But I will say Pop is right bc as of June 22, when we got wemby, the curse of Kawhi was officially over. Wemby began the new era and absolves the negative plot directions of the Kawhi era.

I don't think there are many who think if they pay those prices to see a game, especially this team, they need to be told how to cheer or boo. If you saw it fans booed Kawhi louder and fans booed Pop. That was the end of the story really and I thought it was pretty damn funny. Now losing another game is not so funny.
Sports fandom in general is pretty stupid if you really think about it. We spend an insane amount of time watching, analyzing, talking about sports. Many also spend an unreasonable amount of money on gear. Experience unreasonable emotional highs/lows.
So why is there suddenly supposed to be logic involved when it comes to how fans react to Kawhi? Who decides at what point it was unreasonable to boo him in SA? Let people fan how they want to fan. Personally, Nephew betraying the team doesn't sting anywhere near how it did those first few years but that doesn't mean I'll forget what he did. I'll always dislike the player and will continue to boo.
