With a russian economy and growing internal dislike of the war, the putler successor’s calculus will certainly include leaving Crimea rather than risk going down ter in putler’s 3-5 day SMO.
Ukraine kicked best russian troops up north, Kherson, and Kharkiv. Highly unlikely that new russian conscripts will make any contributions other than freezing and dying this winter as putler is not supplying his troops with proper winter kit.

Ukraine is really sticky. If we let the Russians do whatever they want, even in lands millions of Russians were wounded/killed defending before the Russian Empire/USSRcollapsed, then it's just inviting them to become more and more aggressive until it just becomes the 2nd Cold War all over again, except this time China doesn't really like us either (and has exponential military capacity relative to the 1st Cold War).
I actually agree Ukraine's main choice is the outlast Putin. The average Russian might enjoy the idea of reclaiming a lost piece of the Empire or Soviet Union or whatever, but I doubt they're ready to die for such ideas.
What do you base this on? First of all who is his successor?
