Only two teams in the NBA right now are 0 an 10 in last 10 games played - Detroit and the Spurs.
Contested catch over Chris ing Paul where the success is a dunk and possible trip to the FT line vs a contested 3 by a scrub.
Only two teams in the NBA right now are 0 an 10 in last 10 games played - Detroit and the Spurs.
At least they didn't throw into that contested catch window while Victor was covered by Mugsy Bogues. That could have been bad.
I feel like the Spurs lost that game on account of Pop or whomever telling players to foul Curry and Thompson at the end of the game. With the way they were coughing up the ball, it seems like a better choice would have been to play some pressure defense and live with the results. Fouling them was guaranteed score. Spurs got it within a possession but couldn’t get stops with that strategy…
The game was over halfway through the 3rd tbh![]()
not a 40pt blowout = moral victory
The passer in both cases had a guy in his face. There's this cycle folks keep going through:
1) Situation happens where Wemby calls for the ball and doesn't get it
2) Folks get mad and think the Spurs missed him
3) Later situation happens where Wemby calls for the pass, the guy passes it and it gets broken up, fumbled or intercepted.
4) Folks assume the Spurs have uniquely awful passers despite them being among the league leaders in assists for multiple years.
They don't notice that
5) Sochan and Collins get entry passes all the time without much issue
Which means
6) The Spurs players are clearly able to recognize a open teammate with a mismatch and are physically capable of throwing a catchable pass
That should lead to
7) The fans consider the possibility that the pass in 3) wasn't actually that easy, and that's why in 1) they are chose to not attempt it. They just assume everyone is extraordinarily bad and go back to 1).
No, this doesn't mean Wemby sucks. But it's one of the ways him being young and raw is showing up. It's why Pop being so free form with the offense is so annoying, because a Wemby who has opportunities for good looks is one who's going to play much better in all aspects of the game. Also, a guy like Sochan who's having to learn a new position should probably have an actual offense to learn rather than having to deal with all of this chaos. Johnson, Vassell and everyone else should have an offense to get used to their roles.
I'm totally with fans annoyed with how Wemby's being used and how unable the team seems to be in getting him good looks in high-percentage areas. But the solution isn't to pretend like he's prime Shaq who can dominate down low, and it's not to assume that being 7-4 means there's always an angle to get him the ball. Right now, it seems like it's on Wemby to get himself open, and he's doing so without coordinating his movements with the guys he expects to pass him the ball. Then the other guys are trying to figure out when to make what are actually not easy passes to him, to call their own numbers or to try to run something. And they have to take the blame for the lack of guidance.

Did we watch the same game? It seemed over but that GSW team is one of the worst I have seen GS field except for that season where they tanked for their bust center… If not for Curry they are even more hopeless than the Spurs. Yeah I saw the chef cooking but he also coughed up the ball a lot with the game on the line allowing the Spurs to get close. It was a very winnable game, but of course if your strategy is to start fouling Curry and Thompson and hoping they miss, well I don’t know what to say to you.
I couldn't even feel anything about the Clipper losses when they blew a home game to Memphis by double digits.
Half the time they're from Victor tbh
Honestly things at this point look so hopeless that I expect them to lose every single game … I have felt this way in recent years before… but I don’t know if this happens to you, but secretly I kind of hoped they would win some games (I didn’t watch them last season though because not a single game was on national TV).. anyways as a fan one kind of always hope… except this season. I don’t feel like Pop is trying to win at this point tbqh …

Nah, it was over in the 3rd. Spurs had a little flukey run at the end because the Warriors started coasting. You can tell because the Dubs started the 4th with an 8-0 run![]()
It's literally been the same ol story for most of this 11 game losing streak:
-They'll sometime start off hot in the 1st because teams underestimate them.
-Any competent team usually adjusts by late 1st or mid 2nd and any sort of lead has evaporated.
-Pop does whatever he usually does at halftime which results in the Spurs usually losing the quarter by 10+![]()
-Opponent takes the foot of the gas again and fans mistake their garbage time runs as any semblance of progress
The 3rd quarter is the true representation of this team from talent to coaching, etc. And they've gotten their absolute doors blown off each and every time. Same as all the other games, the game was over midway through the 3rd![]()
It wasn't "over Chris Paul". It was among three Warriors. Has it been so long that fans don't know what it's like to have a star on the team anymore? Wemby is never, ever going to get uncontested catches against a set defense. Teams will stop that. People need to stop zeroing in on Wemby and look at the rest of the court. There were multiple Warriors ready to contest the pass, including one guarding the ball. That's why they swung it to Collins hoping to get a different angle. But they (was it Sochan or Johnson? Well whoever and Collins) were too close, and the Warriors were able to shift to take away the pass again. Collins didn't WANT to shoot that shot, but there was literally no one open. It boggles my mind that people assume Collins, who's one of the top centers in the league passing the ball, wants to take an out-of-rhythm three there.
I have never seen a season I expect to lose every game like this year. Not last year. Not 96-97 after David broke his foot. Not 85-86 after Johnny Moore nearly died from desert fever. And the whole rest of the league can see what a up Pop is. It's why they put swings on Victor because they know the team isn't going to pass it to him in the paint so put a guy who has hands and feet quick enough to take away Vic's face up game.
Which is weird considering Victor never gets the ball and thus shouldn't be able to pass it.
Still with all that, with the Warriors relaxing so much and coasting as you say, they could have stolen it if you want to frame it like that. Even bad teams win games if you don’t show up…that was a winnable game. Honestly for me fouling Curry and Thompson was throwing the towel in.
I think we're inevitably saying the same thing that the Spurs have a horrible coach. We're just disagreeing on the timing of the inep ude![]()
I can't remember a single team across any sport this horribly coached tbh.
The hilarious thing is that this "experiment" bull will ultimately amount to nothing and the old man will revert to what the majority of non-re s on the board are begging him to do either late this season or some time next, and the Sniff Crew will be amazed at his "adjustments"
The start of this season has been absolutely criminal. I don't think it's an overreaction to say he's set back the development of Sochan and Wemby at least a season or two. Jeremy would be so ing good on any other team in the league and the old man is trying to turn him into Speedy Claxton. Criminal, just absolutely criminal.
Wemby will leave once his rookie contract is up unless the spurs can show they are the right team to build with
Didn't see the game. Any cliffnotes?
Literally the exact same story as the 10 previous losses tbh![]()
Yeah. I have questioned Pop a lot before, but this is another level… to the point that it looks intentional but maybe it isn’t. Just thought he decided to start fouling Curry and Thompson to ensure the tank… it’s the kind of move tankathon teams do.
Well .
Despite the same old same old, GSW started turning over the ball like crazy due to Spurs solid D and perhaps their own issues as a team (thought this is a very weak GSW team tbqh with you - no Draymond and they missed him, the screens he sets and the two man game with Curry)… anyways, on the back of those GSW TO the Spurs got it to within a possession but then Pop said, well let’s ensure the tank and decided to stop playing straight up D and fouling Curry and Thompson who converted every shot and despite some hustle from Johnson and the Spurs scoring every possession they couldn’t steal that game-as it were. I’d have played straight up D and live with the results. Rest of the game is very forgettable, but this was winnable. Watch like the last couple of minutes
