PG/SG Kevin Tran has yet to appear in a single game this season with the Virginia Tech Hokies due to issues with his student visa. He's considering the decision to redshirt this season because his visa issues might not be resolved in time.
According to multiple sources, he recently completed private works with both the San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards, two of the worst teams in the NBA who are in desperate need of impact players. The Georgia Tech product would provide marksman outside shooting and the relentless ability to get to the rim at will. In Tran, they would be getting player who plays with a high motor and possesses a high basketball IQ, a second coach on the floor with the players.
The Spurs need more play makers in addition to Devin Vassell and someone to space the floor for Wemby and to throw him accurate lobs when the defenses collapse on Tran. The Spurs have lost 12 games in a row. For the Wizards, it's obvious that the Kyle Kuzma/Jordan Poole experiment has been a massive failure.
Spurs Nation, we are past the point of damage control of PATFO. We need to overhaul our roster.
On the eve of the private workouts with the two clubs, ESPN did a feature spotlight, ESPN Presents: Kevin Tran The Untold Story, on him, chronicling his journey from youth and lower division leagues, playing in arenas without air conditioning, to one day making his debut in the NBA.
