Imagine how much more compelling it would be if Texas had beat OU today instead of OSU. Then you could argue the one loss was avenged.

Oh well, no point in dreaming or speculating anymore. We'll find out tomorrow. I think it's a 50-50 coin toss for who gets the final spot.

Texas won their conference and beat the SEC champion on their own field by double digits. All the other teams are undefeated. This is the kind of criteria the BCS claims to go by. I'm not saying they are the 4 best teams, but if we are sticking with the formula those are the teams that should get in
100 percent agree. That's why you can smell the smoke coming from their brains as they try to rationalize shoehorning Alabama in there. Then when the Tide win one or both games, they can act like it was a good decision.

Endzone call that went against OU v OSU was brutal.

Pass interference all day long against Stoops and they were looking at if Stoops caught the ball with some body part in.
While they kept going over the replay they just forgot about the fact that Stoops was tackled well before the ball got to him!
They can’t change that part of the play to a penalty but it was so clear when they had to run the replay over and over to determine Stoops caught the ball out of the end zone (which was super close; unlike the penalty never called which was in no doubt)

The OU people went nuts, thought they handed Gundy the last game against OU because Gundy had complained so bitterly about stopping the rivalry. Compare that to ATM who wanted nothing to do with us. Interesting. I’m glad we play them again. ATM takes losses so hard. They go into hiding. My favorite game.

No way I want to skip the Michigan series coming up that playblair thinks we should do if not selected.
I look forward to playing these out of conference teams. It’s fun. Could ruin hopes of a National championship but it’s still too much fun, looking forward to it. Then Ohio State for two years. Good stuff. Bunch of good games next year. ATM. Georgia in Austin. Awesome!

More Playoff teams encourages OOC games IMO because you get penalized for soft schedule.

But they aren't as good as Texas, Alabama, Washington and Michigan. Without Travis they can't beat any of those teams
Then Georgia should be there too. They just barely lost, and they would beat all the other teams.
So my thinking may be way off here but if being undefeated outweighs (current) quality of play then Florida State has to be #3, ahead of Texas and Alabama. However, if we're saying the being undefeated doesn't outweigh quality of play, then how could only Texas or Alabama jump Florida State and not both teams jump Florida State. Because Texas and Alabama look way better and more balanced than Florida State right now, so either both teams jump Florida State or neither team does. This is obviously only my opinion. .
I'm now on the Quality of Play outweighing record.
Prior to tonight i thought undefeated should be in, period.

After seeing how pathetic Louiseville was, i honestly think it might have been thrown. BTW can a dollar amount be put on how much a team will make as a Final Four vs playing in the Doritos and Lowes Hardware Bowl? Of course it depends on the other bowl etc. But basically how much more dough is it for schools making the CFP vs 5th on down?

Thrown or Louiseville just sucked, as others posted that was some of the most football they have seen.
For FSU to barely win, i deduct massive points.

Rankings play a big part in the process and there is Conference bias in rankings. Networks will pimp teams they air.

    W-L has no bias

texas fans u r in...........u can not take alabama without taking texas.......either both get in or texas gets in over alabama.......
Sad, but plainly true. Cannot & will not dispute it.

I still believe they'll leave Alabama out after so many times including Alabama when there was a shadow upon that appointment. They've never hesitated once since they went to the (4) to include us. There is no need to cause an uproar now with a large expansion within sight. And that's what we get for that loss at home.

You'll get nary beef from me.

Texas should in IMO, and I just made up some simple math in my head to break the 3 way tie between UGA, Bama, and UT since I think their overall schedule is pretty similar.

In a case like this, OSU is out because the Big Ten was meh outside of Michigan. UT playing Alabama is huge obviously, because UT's resume would be worse than OSU by nature of not really beating anybody remarkable in the Big XII.

I think UT, Bama, and UGA all have similar strength of schedule's without autistically digging into the details. Since it's a three way tie, I think you compare each team's loss and their best win amongst each other. And compare the overall point differential between the W and L but I've added some extra scoring depending on if it was a home, away, or neutral game and depending on where the opponent finished in the ranking system. Best win meaning the best ranked team they played.

As for the scoring, you add or subtract points depending on where the game was played and who they played.

    I) For venue, add or subtract 10 points depending on if it was a home or away game. So if your best win was on the road, take that point differential of the W and add 10...similarly subtract 10 if your loss was at home. No score added or subtracted if it was neutral

II) For opponent, if your best win was against a team in the Top 5...add 15 points
If your best win was against a team in the 5-10 range...add 10 points
If your worst loss was against a team in the Top 5...subtract 5 points
If your worst loss was against a team in the 5-10 range...subtract 10 points
If your worst loss was against a team ranked in the 10-25 range...subtract 15 points

    Texas's score would be 25-19 = 11

Best win = 10 points for beating Bama by 10...add 10 more since it was on the road...add 10 more since Bama was ranked #8 at end of year = 30
Loss = -4 for loosing by 4 to OU...neutral game so nothing added/subtracted for venue....subtract 15 since OU finished #12 at the end of the year = -19

    Alabama's score would be -12

Best win = 3 points for beating UGA by 3 ... neutral game so nothing added/subtracted for venue...add 15 more since UGA was ranked #1 at end of the year = 18
Loss = -10 for losing to Texas at home...subtract 10 more since it was a loss at home....subtract 10 more since Texas was ranked #7 at the end of the year = -30

    Georgia's score would be -4

Best win = 9 points for beating Missouri by 9...subtract 10 because of home field advantage...add 10 because Missouri was ranked #9 at end of the year = 9
Loss = -3 for losing to Bama by 3...neutral game so nothing added/subtracted for venue...subtract 10 more since Bama was ranked #8 at end of the year = -13

By my scoring system, Texas is in by a pretty decent margin. Even if you made the argument that Bama/UGA/UT are all really Top 5 ranked teams after yesterday, which is fair, UT still comes out ahead by the same margin. The "Alabama was not the same team by end of the year" is just subjective with no real way to quantify so I consider it invalid. We don't select the "hottest" teams, just overall body of work

    debate me, g0ts

Also, none of it matters because they planned on ing over FSU when they had Washington jump them a couple of weeks ago.

In this whole thing, I really feel for Georgia and their fan base. They must be devastated.

Are they ever? OSU and Michigan are the UT/OU of the north. They get the benefit of the doubt.

Imo UT matches up better against Michigan than against Washington.
UT secondary is vulnerable, especially safeties. UT run D is awesome. Pennix can pick UT apart.

Next season playoff decisions could possibly even wilder as the committee clearly favors the SEC this year.
One power 5 conference is destroyed and another weakened as well.
