he's only played 29 once in that timeframe, which was yesterday

lol daf making more stuff up
I'm talking about Pop "officially" saying that Wemby's minutes restriction is up to 30.

ill have a serious conversation with a serious poster

you are not a serious poster. you're a loser who consistently gets busted for lying and making up stats to defend his takes, then once he gets outed, falls to the "durhrhrhr I was just joking durhrhr" excuse. you are on par with joey in terms of being someone worth taking seriously.

You won't have a serious conversation with me 'cause you know I'll on you. You're a known low BBIQ guy that has to keep posting on an alt account because you are embarassed to post with your original one after so many years of guys ting on you for your dumbass takes, tbh.

tbh I (and many others, even some spur fans) see some great potential but also see red flags

you see inevitable 7'4 LeBron/Hakeem/Jordan/Shaq and 10 rings, 10 mvps and absolutely no red flags

yet somehow your view is the only correct one
I mean people who were acting like the Spurs were going to win another five rings when they won the lottery were nuts since (1) the West is probably better than it was in the 2000s and (2) no way in the Spurs are pulling another Tony Parker at 29 and Manu Ginobili at 59. But Wemby seems to have a monster of a motor, is very cognizant of the kind of injures players his size have typically had and seems to put a lot of work into avoiding them, and has developed into a way better passer than I think most were expecting. His shooting isn't as good as advertised when people were calling him 7'4" Durant and he still makes some dumb rookie mistakes in say his shot selection (loves heat check threes off the dribble) or rushing things, especially when he has a SF on him instead of a big, but so far I think he's better than I was expecting. I was expecting All-NBA level defense but a real mixed bag offensively like we saw the first couple of months of the season. He has gotten so much better about being able to establish and hold position now vs where he began the season when he'd constantly be pushed out to the three point line on the catch and couldn't really punish teams for guarding him with SF when they could push him out of the post. Given his unbelievable defensive skill (I know LOL 70) I can't see him busting unless it's because of injury. Whether he lives up to the enormous hype offensively we'll have to see, but his ballhandling, layup package, ability to run the floor, and already being one of the best lob targets for easy baskets that we have ever seen are pretty encouraging. Still needs work on his jumper and he needs to develop at least a good baby hook in the post (people like to act like Shaq was just a dunker but he was automatic with that hook too) but I think Spurs fans have a lot of good reason to be very excited about him and where he could take the team.

Busting does seem extremely unlikely. But why does it feel like it’s either MVP generational production or injuries? Can it be somewhere in between? Somewhere in between that’s not necessarily closer to the generational MVP end?

If his career ends up landing in the range between Porzingis and KAT, that wouldn't be a bust but it’s not all world, perennial MVP either. 10 years from now, if he’s essentially been Karl Anthony Towns with more blocks, fewer threes, will be that acceptable to Spurs fans? Will it be disappointing?

barring injury, I think he will basically be what KP was hoped to be

longevity will be an issue tho, which will hurt his chances at being goat the way people like daf are confidently predicting

Because it is already evident that he will be way more than that. The kid just has "it". I don't have any other way to describe it. You have to see him regularly to realize it.

Different sports but in Wemby I see the same things I saw in Messi and Mahomes when they were coming up: obviously mercurially talented but they were also smart, hard working and leaders. They had an aura about them. Wemby has the same.

All honesty Wemby has met or even exceed what I expected out of him in his rookie year. His skills at that size is really incredible. I admit I thought his floor was a Porzingis type of player, and his peak is like a Durant Hakeem hybrid. Based on the first half a season or so, I'd say he has raised his floor and that he will be better than Porzingis by a significant margin.

As for team wins, it is really a FO thing now. People have to realize that with the change in rules, particularly those around zone defence and the reduction in physicality, along with a drastic improvement in shooting at every position, a team will not win anything with only one or two superstars and a bunch of scrubs. We are looking at teams with a couple of superstars and some very competent players surrounding them. Having a guy like an Avery Johnson, BJ Armstrong or a Will Perdue isn't going to net you a ring, opposing team will hunt that mismatch down all game every game and will most definitely exploit it to a level of winning 4 out of 7 games in a series. I personally think it is a better evolution as it allows smart team building to flex it's muscles and small market teams have a chance. Don't get me wrong, the Giannis, Lebrons, Currys, and such are still going to make a huge difference, but the small markets at least have a chance (see Bucks and Denver).

I am really high on Sochan, still, which many of you may clown on, but I see him as a versatile player who can defend multiple positions at least adequately, while providing secondary ball handling and occasional offensive production. The Spurs need upgrades at multiple positions, PG is adequate but most definitely not championship level, Vassell has ways to grow, backup positions are a total mess, Champaigne just isn't a strong starting SF at all, but with Wemby in the lineup, he can erase a lot of mistakes and allow more room for error. My worry is that room for error will be interpreted as the Spurs being actually good enough, only to be exploited in the playoffs, like what David Robinson had to go through back in the 90s, and Garnett and Dirk did at their peaks (or maybe even Doncic now).
