The message from Putin was clear. He wants a negotiated agreement and we should all want this. Ukraine has no prospect of taking back all its territory by force. Nor can it really begin the rebuilding process until the fighting stops. Given the resistance to mobilization in Ukraine, it's obvious that even many Ukrainians don't see the point of this continuing.

You would have been okay with Hitler taking over his weak neighbors too

I’m with you. Putin agrees to leave and pays for for all the rebuilding.

Oh, you say the message from Putin was clear because you have a problem.

Not really the same thing. Ukraine still controls 85% of its land and is still sovereign -- it can keep that with a negotiated settlement. Is that what happened to Poland in 1939?

    It's simply not the same.

Hitler didn't lose hundred of thousands of troops taking the Sudetenland and Czechoslovakia didn't already receive hundreds of billions of dollars in aid at the time. We're simply reaching the limits of what is possible for Ukraine... and for that matter, we're reaching the limits of what is possible for Russia as well.

    It's a comparison not a equivalence.

You think that distinction somehow makes it better? Hitler even used the same rhetoric around protecting speakers of his language. He did not start his false flags, invasions, overwhelming opposing international aid, and millions of soldiers lost until later. Putin just got a head start.

At the end of the day, Chamberlain wanted to appease Hitler by granting him the Sudetenland from the Czechs much like you are doing here for the Ukrainians and their territory.

Great interview. Gonna watch it 3 more times

    Highlights after 1st watch:
    - Putin gave 45 minute history lesson on history of Russia/Ukraine
    - I can only imagine Biden or Trump trying that
    - Ukraine is an artificial state
    - West promised not to expand nato. They lied
    - when West opened nato door to Ukraine and performed the coup Russia had to act to protect crimea
    - denazification of Ukraine is ongoing
    - Russia will put soldiers in Poland only if Poland attacks them

Wish Tucker would have asked 2 important questions. What happens if West does not negotiate and keeps escalation. What happens if West puts boots on the ground in Ukraine

Did Ukraine ask Russia to invade them? Why should Ukraine have to give up 15% of their land if they don't want to?

Would you roll over this way too if Putin wanted 15% of the US? Maybe you wouldn't miss New Jersey or Delaware but other Americans might.

They already gave it up. Russia will never give it back. Ever.

They had many chances to keep the lands by following Minsk 2, signing the deal in Feb 2014

They ed around and found out.
