Yeah that’s not why Hakeem is better than David. Also it’s OKAY to acknowledge Wemby got his ass kicked. It happens. He will learn from it.
Oh right, we would have to have Van Fleet work on TNT and pimp about Sengun for 30 years afterwards.

You seem upset. Maybe you should look at how Victor played last night and how fatigue has been a factor overall this year.

Wemby's length gives him a lot of room for error, such that even when he's bullied in the restricted area and pushed under the rim, he can still kind of reach out and block the shot where most defenders would just be out of the play

But that's not going to be a sustainable form of defense, and Sengun proved that. He kept pushing Victor under the rim and took his chances. Vic blocked Sengun about 5 times, but he just played the odds and kept going to that well and was rewarded for it.

The Spurs home/road disparity looks real stark as of late. Sucked most of the RRR, came back compe ive as , back on the road again and come out completely flat.

It was the closest thing from a hazing from Pop lol

He let Victor on an island all night with almost no help either on offense or defense.

As if Pop didn't like the growing hype surrounding Wemby and wanted to show him how far he still is

You think it was intentional. Allow the truth to sink in. Pop is not a good basketball coach.

    Good 'ole "you seem upset".

Yes, Hakeem's entire reputation of being an untouchable center was based on his one series vs. the Spurs, when Bob Hill decided not to double Hakeem while Rodman didn't guard anyone for an entire series so that he can hang around the rim and stat pad his rebounds. At the same time, Robinson was double and triple teamed with outside "shooters" like Avery Johnson, Vinny Del Negro and Dennis Rodman, while the Rockets had the Jet, Drexler, Horry, and freaking Sam Cassell coming off the bench. Their bloody bench warmer was Pete Chilcutt, would could outshoot the entire Spurs team outside of maybe Sean Elliott.

Then you have the Jet go on TNT and talk about that one series as proof of Hakeem's dominance, without putting anything else in perspective.

Too long, not reading any of it. Bottom line was there wasn’t really any category that David was better in. And he got dominated. David was MVP and got his chain snatched in a way no one has before or after. And you are mad 30 years later about one series.

sengun is a very crafty player and he had a great game. wemby seemed more troubled by dillon brooks tbh, and once he picked up his 3rd foul, sengun went right at him. it'll be interesting to see how the rockets play against wemby next week. will they continue to go through sengun? it seemed as if he was willing to get his shot blocked from time to time but kept attacking anyway. the trick will be to deny sengun the ball that low under the basket where he can use that big turkish arse of his to push wemby out from under the basket. to be fair to wemby, it looks as if sengun threw his body into wemby when he had his arms straight up on a few trips and drew the fouls. hopefully, pop works the ref before the game next tuesday.

Maybe the most satisfying aspect of the Wemby experience so far is the post-game banner-raising that goes on in other fanbases the few times he's had a bad game.

Stopping the player means more than winning the game. That's when you know you've got a good one.

Im not shy of critics on Pop but the whole game?

same on offense, he’s had multiple timeout to draw a play to put him back in the game mentally but he did nothing. You can’t be THAT incompetent.

same for the lack of PG that forced him to learn quicker to create his own shot when a top PG would have sent him L’Obs all the time and slow his progression.

i think Pop thought Victor could « take it » bc of the poise he’s shown. I also think Pop dislike the praise and hype of the last few weeks and would love to be able to teach his way.

listen to his post game conf, he acts as of the Spurs lost by 40. That’s his thing, he loves it

I can’t dispute it so I will just say I didn’t read it but still respond with the same tripe that’s been repeated ad nauseam over the last 30 years.

Robinson actually had the better b2b record vs hakeem.

Wemby’s kryptonite is big centers. He doesn’t have the strength to keep them from the paint. That means that the Spurs will have to either get a strong PF/C to guard those guys or double team them. It is good for Wemby to get his ass kicked once in a while so it doesn’t go to his head.

It's really rare to see someone write a historically accurate account of that series. Hakeem was super selfish early on in his career, demanded a trade at least once, sat out for contract disputes, was accused of faking injuries and wasn't deemed a "legend" until those playoff runs where all of a sudden the NBA decided that his dreamshake horse wasn't traveling anymore. Officials took away one of Elliott's best moves when they arbitrarily decided one offseason (I think it was a baseline spin if I recall correctly) that that move was now a travel, but Hakeem became the NBA's darling.

Also, Pete Freaking Chilcutt........ I remember Carl Herrera having a seemingly legendary series against us too. Shameful business

Gnarly looking injury for Sengun. Sucks tbh. At the tail end of the game no less. I imagine he’s done for the season and likely much longer.

Too bad about Sengun! Dude is a low post monster in the Tim Duncan style, not very athletic but hard nosed and doesn't give up easily. Hoping for a solid and full recovery, we've got lots more battles in the future.
