Totally spitballing here, but if Trump craters out really badly in the month before the convention, I could totally see the GOP turning on him.

, Andy in panic mode has already turned against Trump (depending how it turns out)

They tried to turn on him after that coup attempt from his brownshirts and quickly came back home to the Dear Nazi. It's his party, they can't run from him.

so it would seem, I'm inclined to agree, but I wouldn't underestimate the ruthless political expedience of the GOP either.

If Trump looks too much like a loser in a month and a half, they'll dump him.

You couldn't drag him away. He already made President once. That's why we're here this evening.

Completely disagree. He will always have the base because he is the exact leader they have been conditioned to want via 30 years of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, etc. It doesn't matter if independents all ran to Biden, the GOP is stuck with Trump until he dies or decides to quit running. If they dumped him he'll either run third party or tell his base to stay home and then the Democrats win the house and senate in a wave.

You already said you'd take eight more years of Biden and Mayor Pete in the White House over having to live with humidity.

No, I'm not voting for the convicted felon. Unless it is appealed and re-adjudicated before election day. Got to vote your conscience.

Trump just needs a half hour in Saint Croix with Coach Popovich, face to face. So he can "get over himself".

I'm different things on different days and at different times of the day, for sure

I'm the textbook definition of dynamic, not static

I'm 2019 Tampa Jameis Winston or 2021 Buffalo Josh Allen

I'm Doctor Jeckyll or Mister Hyde

That prediction isn't difficult at all IMO. Trump is exactly who the right wing mass media has been telling their audience to want for 30 years and it's the first time the base has gotten that. They're not going to let go of finally getting the candidate they were engineered to want. You live in Texas, you understand what a cult leader figure he is for the GOP base.

He needs an imaginary narrative for his imaginary life which exists exclusively on this message board.

Very plausible, hope you're wrong, and there's no guarantee any eventual stand-in wouldn't be even worse.
