The highest heat index recorded in San Antonio happened Tuesday. That’s record-setting heat 2 years in a row 🥵
Heat index records began in the 1940s in San Antonio

There is no doubt about it — the heat and humidity have been in full force since late May and early June!

High humidity with afternoon dewpoints in the mid-to upper-70s in San Antonio has made feels-like temperatures soar well into the triple digits across the majority of South Central Texas.

Here in San Antonio, the peak heat index value managed to climb to 117 degrees Tuesday (6/4), which made for a record. This beats the old record of 116 degrees set just last year in late June. That means we’ve seen the hottest heat index recorded in San Antonio for TWO YEARS IN A ROW — wow!

**PLEASE NOTE: We may even see a hotter heat index for the remaining couple of heating hours on Tuesday afternoon. We will update this article if the heat index rises even higher.

Natural feedback loops will not be mocked.

A lot of people are going to learn what wet-bulb temperature is this year.

I was thinking of biking and spent most of “lunch” swimming laps instead.
It was just not doable today. Absolutely horrid.
Our dog must’ve held his pee for a record amount of time as apparently he only went out once according to secret sources.

    Congrats!

I witnessed flurries atop Mount Olympus in WA while y’all were experienced this. It was 35F at the Paradise Ranger Station on Mount Rainier the day before

I'd kill for those Las Vegas dewpoints in the 30s though.

Now picture 100+ degrees with dewpoints in the mid to high 70s. Ugh, heat index was 121 in my neighborhood a couple of days ago.

its so dry out here that the heat index is virtually synonymous with the temperature

central VA was a lot more humid and fairly hot in the summer, but we were rarely cracking triple digits. but a day in the mid 80s felt like if it wasnt sufficiently cloudy. but far from the worst when it comes to weather. all in all i thought it was good. enjoyed the brisk winters. just enough snow to be fun (would have liked a little more) but never enough to cause problems. no major storms really. not a hurricane zone. i got 3 tornado watches in the 5 years i lived there but none ever touched the ground, not a common occurrence out there

when it came to places we might have had to move to for residency, the two hottest places were here in vegas, and then edinburg, texas just outside of mcallen. glad we wound up here instead

Ouch I think Edinburg might have been the COVID per capita death capital of the world for a while. Was down in South Padre today for the SpaceX launch and humidity was insane, like dewpoint over 80. Though didn't feel so bad since the temps never even hit 90. But go a few miles inland along the river and you get most of the humidity and add on another 10-15 degrees.

yeah edinburg was one of the two spots she ranked lowest from the places she interviewed at. while it wasnt a likely outcome, glad we dodged that bullet. vegas was near the top of our list because it brought us so much closer to home (my home, i just mean family/friends. all things being equal, i dont think i'd move back to LA... not because i dont enjoy the city, but because i dont think the price tag on housing is justified)

Yes it is hot but it is a dry heat, comparable to pre-heat setting in an oven in Virginia.

Heat dome set to bring more sizzling temperatures to the West a day after Death Valley hit 122 degrees.
