RIP old timer.
Damn.
Arguably basketball GOAT because he was on top of the game in every possible role his entire life.
Without him, Lakers would be Knicks level franchise.
Whoa say it ain't so. Great basketball player, great GM.
Too soon after Bill Walton
God is building a dynasty in heaven I guess
Lakers did him dirty by pushing him out in 2000 at Phil’s request. It’s funny, because there was probably an element of jealousy involved. Jerry succeeded at every basketball job he ever held, player, GM, exec, advisor, while Phil was a journeyman player, and an awful GM, in NY.
The man who single-handedly kept the Spurs from ringing from 2000-2002, and again in 2004 tbh. Him trading for Kobe in '97 really ed us. One of the all-time great players and GM's though. Maybe the greatest GM ever, along with Red Aurbach. 60+ years of NBA relevancy like that is incredible. Rest easy, Logo.
Hey, remember when he worked under the table to get Pau Gasol over to the Lakers for Kwame Brown?
West believed in acquiring star players(free agency and trades) and winning that way. Not like the Spurs who want to build only by the draft.
Uh, Marc Gasol was in that trade, too. 3X All Star, 2X All NBA, DPOY. That guy.
The Lakers are a destination, or were. The Spurs haven’t been, up to this point. Any star player we’ve had, Post Gervin, we’ve drafted.
ChetWalker, Bill Walton, Jerry West. That’s three.

Second greatest shooting guard all time. Hall of fame worthy on his non-playing career alone. RIP.
10 years ago I was eating at a restaurant in Santa Monica. We noticed Jerry West and Rod Thorn having drinks at the bar. Then Rambis walked in the door and joined them, then Kupcheck, then Coop, then Byron. Every few minutes another Laker Legend. And finally Magic. Then their party moved to a private room. Turns out it was Rod Thorns birthday and I'm guessing Jerry threw him a party. Surreal 20 minutes of my life. RIP.
One of the best ever. RIP
Bruh, Marc Gasol was a deep second rounder at that point. Don't give me crap about 'everyone knew he was going to be great.' That's ing bull and you know it. He was a throw-in.
We will never see his like again, RIP Logo.
Please cease and desist comparing Marc favorably to Prime MVPau.
A pure scam.
All around Basketball legend!!
may he rest In peace
Shoot when did he stop working...feel like I just saw him scouting games
nobody knrw how Marc would pan out, not even West
Pau was already a top PF
