Because they also played the game off of emotion and athleticism. Boston outworks and outsmarts you.

you got a guy the entire universe knows has no left hand, and you let him go right all game long. you have a play that has worked all season long, and you completely abandon it simply bc of a couple bad shooting nights by role players. you are on a 20-2 run, then call a timeout after a big defensive stop to kill momentum and a great fast break opportunity.
lots went wrong, but it's unquestionable the single biggest issue with the Mavs is Kidd.
people can blame luka for effort and whining or whatever but it's obvious kidd enables it. hold him accountable like any half decent coach would.

just kind of a 'meh' feeling when one team puts on a clinic from start to finish, and it's pretty clear who the better team is immediately. Losing how they did in '06 was 100x worse tbh
Aht Aht. Carlisle got fired for trying to hold Luka accountable. Kidd actually isn’t the biggest issue with the Mavs, to my surprise. That roster stinks outside of Luka, and Kyrie. Also, Kyrie was MIA for two finals games.
The Nuggets were 20+ pts ahead in game 7 at home. Monumental choke, imho.
