Jokic/Luka/SGA/Giannis/Embiid. I think it’d be difficult for him to break into that tier, but I mean it’s absolutely possible. He’s almost certainly going to be the best defender in the league next year…even just making some modest improvements offensively in terms of efficiency and cutting down on turnovers and he’s going to be in the discussion though.

spurraider21 said it but I think the biggest thing is just consistency. Wemby had stretches of games as a rookie where he legitimately looked like the best player in the world, but there were also plenty of stretches where he clearly looked like a rookie (which is to be expected, the kid is 19/20). I think those other 5 guys I named are just more consistently great night in and night out but it’s entirely possible Wemby takes a large step forward and joins them. That’s just such an insane expectation for someone Wemby’s age in his 2nd season but if anyone can do it it’s him
Embiid IF (big one) healthy I agree

    Giannis it's very close/debatable

SGA/Luka don't have the defensive impact (SGA gambles a lot and gets steals but isn't a great 1vs1 defender)

I agree on the consistency, I didn't take it into account in my jugment tbh, but I'm assuming it's the next logical step, no reason he doesn't manage to pass it

If you consider the defensive impact as 50% of the valuation, Wemby wins bc of it all the time imo. Despite his numerous limitations at this stage of his career.

    Gravity/heath are his only adversary

20lbs of muscle is a ton and would definitely be noticeable YoY.

Not on a 7‘5“ body tbh. You‘ll barely notice it

I know many would like to see him look like the Incredible Hulk, but while a little meat doesn't hurt too much in the upper body to play shoulders in the paint, it's actually mostly in the lower body that it must strengthen itself without affecting its primary qualities. If he gains too much muscle overall he will have stamina problems and will lack the quickness or agility to counter balls.

He was a 1500m runner, the big limit is to become a 400m runner. The ideal body type is undoubtedly that of a 400m hurdles or triple jump runner. Giannis plays like a 100m runner, and for his size, that already forces him to play slowly. On the other hand, it would be much more interesting to see him strengthen in the lower body because he would take up even more space on the floor, on the ground, would be a deterrent both in attack and defense and would be pushed around less in the paint.

But this must also be done slowly otherwise he risks injuries and we could even question the hypothesis of adding too much mass because he has been relatively spared from injuries despite his size thanks precisely to his flexibility. More muscles often also mean less flexibility. More muscles, less flexibility, these are tendons which will withstand twisting with much greater violence.

I think he can be trusted because his agent has already said they have no plans to make him a Giannis, but I hope if he adds volume he knows precisely where. And I doubt it's the upper body.

Tired of draft talk, and was going to revisit some favorite Victor moments. Off the top of my head, my favorite two:

    1. The block on Chet
    2. The dual blocks against Houston

    There are a thousand more.

Would love to see him implement two things. A skyhook shot like Kareem. And a set shot, free-throw style but him keeping the ball high in the air when facing his defender and all he needs is a wrist flick to get the shot up.

the best thing about #1, was Chet falling on his ass after getting his shot blocked.

Definitely my favorite play of the season. I hope someone photoshopped the ROY trophy onto the ball there because that's the moment when Wemby went from probable to unanimous winner.

17pts in 3 minutes is up there for me as well, especially since it came against a top team who actually had something to play for late in the season
