Just like I don’t need to explain why I may want cash to transact in privacy is a default. Government needs a legit reason based on facts to strip those rights. It’s not on me to justify it.
Why are running away?
Crypto bros love talking about crypto.
Just like I don’t need to explain why I may want cash to transact in privacy is a default. Government needs a legit reason based on facts to strip those rights. It’s not on me to justify it.
I would say all the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of crypto that was laundered through mixers as proved in court is pretty legit.
What is a legitimate reason to use a crypto mixer?
And constant spouting of rhetoric like “Bitcoin is only used by criminals and terrorists” knowing people like me own it is literally trying to create a narrative I’m a criminal whether directly or indirectly
I don't know of anyone here or in office who is saying that with the "only" qualifier.
Can we see some quotes?
Lmao show me the facts on that. Simultaneously show me the amount in dollars for same activities
Sure.
Will you do the same when people ask the same level of proof from you?
This is how I know you are not a serious person lol
According to court do ents and evidence presented at trial, Roman Sterlingov, 35, was involved in operating Bitcoin Fog from 2011 through 2021. Bitcoin Fog was the longest-running cryptocurrency “mixer,” gaining notoriety as a go-to money laundering service for criminals seeking to hide their illicit proceeds from law enforcement. Over the course of its decade-long operation, Bitcoin Fog moved over 1.2 million bitcoin, which was valued at approximately $400 million at the time of the transactions. The bulk of this cryptocurrency came from darknet marketplaces and was tied to illegal narcotics, computer crimes, iden y theft, and child sexual abuse material.

That's just one case and it already met your demands.
Would you like more?
I am serious.
I will read every link you provide to quotes saying what you claim: “Bitcoin is only used by criminals and terrorists”
Not verbatim, of course.
Probably not. Just being honest.
Ya. A lot of that has already been debunked with regards to the numbers and how they tracked addresses by the way. Sure, theres some of that, but the estimations were very far off, often times intentionally, so the data could be weaponzied by Warren and the like.
thats like saying they are treating "people like me" as criminals when they prove white collar crime by looking at bank accounts, because i too, have a bank account
these arent people like you being treated as criminals

Yellen continued, “I think many (cryptocurrencies) are used, at least in a transaction sense, mainly for illicit financing. And I think we really need to examine ways in which we can curtail their use, and make sure that anti-money laundering (sic) doesn't occur through those channels.”

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon lashed out at bitcoin and its peers, suggesting in remarks Wednesday on Capitol Hill that cryptocurrencies should be banned.
“I’ve always been deeply opposed to crypto, bitcoin, etc.,” the head of the largest U.S. bank by assets said under questioning from Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., during a Senate Banking Committee hearing. “The only true use case for it is criminals, drug traffickers … money laundering, tax avoidance.”
“If I was the government, I’d close it down,” he added.
tons more examples too of mostly dem elected officials and big bankers using this type of rhetoric
Pretty arrogant or you tbh. Stereotypical crypto bro.
Great, show the numbers for that case after the debunking.
Buddy, people like me that use bitcoin and do simple things like run nodes are in fact being treated this way with the legislation being pushed. It’s not the same level as what you described at all. Alongside the constant rhetoric painting the picture that Bitcoin and crypto are used mainly or only for illegal things etc…
Im shocked a lawyer doesnt understand this and would try to make such a specious argument and ignore that privacy is a default alongside ignoring how the SEC is getting obliterated in actual courts to back up my assertions as well.
JPMorgan Chase is not a government official.
But thanks for getting close with Yellen.
You are still 0-2 though.
Stick to the parameters you were given.

Following Hamas’ attack, a report emerged with estimates that the terrorist organization had raised more than $130 million in cryptocurrency to fund its war against Israel. Senator Elizabeth Warren—the self-appointed generalissima of the “anti-crypto army”—latched onto this eye-popping figure to conscript 104 of her congressional colleagues to sign a letter to the White House urging the administration to take a closer look at crypto’s role in illicit financing. The letter called crypto a “national security threat” to the U.S. and its allies and cited the $130 million figure as key evidence for this assertion
There’s just one problem: that $130 million figure appears to be false.
In Warren’s letter, she claimed that Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad collectively “raised over $130 million in crypto” between August 2021 and June 2023. She cited data from an article in The Wall Street Journal, which leaned heavily on blockchain analytics firm Elliptic as a source. But last month, Elliptic disputed both Warren’s letter and The Wall Street Journal’s extrapolation of its research.
Why Data Firms Dispute Warren
A statement published by Elliptic took direct aim at the $130 million statistic, stating "There is no evidence to suggest that crypto fundraising has raised anything close to this amount, and data provided by Elliptic and others has been misinterpreted."
JP Morgan statement was in direct testimony with Senator Warren lmao and she has said many of the same exact things. Sorry you lose and other than your little online circle jerk this reaction from you shows exactly what I said: you dont argue in good faith and you would rather hate bitcoin and let Trump win vs doing something different and get Biden elected. It’s sad and again it’s all on you. YOU are the problem.
Boiled down: I dont care what you think nor do I feel the need to defend bitcoin to you. If you were someone I valued or thought you acted in good faith and truly in earnest cared to see another person’s perspective then I would engage.
But you dont. You have an ego and you are fine with Trump getting elected again because your behavior, which mirrors Bidens dismissive and authoritarian behavior that assumes people are criminals and need to justify things (we dont) just to exist is exactly what could be the cause of Biden losing votes and putting Trump in the White House.
So because of your at ude and ego and refusal to adapt or change or listen to voters who you feel are beneath you, you run the risk of putting trump in the white house and you alone have to live with that.
Thats on you.
im not talking about whether the policy is good/bad or whether you agree or disagree with the SEC
i'm responding to your specific contention that "people like you are being treated like criminals." now, in the bolded, you mention things you do such as "use bitcoin and do simple things like run nodes." ok. who is being treated like a criminal for doing those things?
Not what I asked for.
Not what I asked for.
If you can't back up your claims, don't get mad at me. Look in the mirror.
Currently just for doing that? No one. Well at least not in the USA. But across the world in authoritarian places like China they are. My point was not only the rhetoric which I pointed out from government officials and the like, but the legislation that are actively trying to pass that would immediately make people like me criminals if it were passed.
You cold have stopped there.
It's not my fault you do a ty job of defending your perceived right to use crypto mixers and such.
I'd love to buy a winter's worth of pseudoephedrine in one visit to CVS but people who used it illegally made it to where I can't. I guess I have to vote for Trump now.
Theres no one with a brain that would read our interaction and come out of thinking you were right or were doing well or your arguments as a whole are holding up. I presented numerous examples that illustrate my point but you are you and try to play online games and semantics and troll
Not buying it buddy. No one is other than your little crew here.
But again, good news is we dont know each other, will never be around each other and we dont have to care about each others opinions. You can live your life and I can live mine and that’s great and wish you nothing but the best my friend.
