Perfect sense, select someone with no coaching experience to lead team; don't change LA

With Red only getting $8M per year, with who knows how much guaranteed, he is just a cheap placeholder.

Should have stuck with his podcast, he'd have gotten bigger than Bill Simmons. Now has to give that up for a year before LeBron blames him instead of himself for trading all their talent to get Westbrook and gets him fired.

I think it's a win-win for both. Lakers get a face and a name friendly to LeBron. JJ gets a big time coaching job he wouldn't have sniffed at elsewise. Who knows he may be great. But I'm praying for gasoline on the dump fire personally

What will be interesting are the assistant coaches JJ will select.

I hear Derrick Fisher is available if they can pry him from Crespi Carmelite HS.

    Without a doubt.

We don't do that we're at 16 tonight and Kobe ain't quite as at rest.

It came out of New York with Stern granting it. Who knows what Utah got for doing it in silence. MSM wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

I can't believe the Lakers didn't approach Doris Burke about the job since she's so basketball savvy.

She's Jake with me and would be about as effective as Re will be.

Can't get more savvy that Reggie Miller and Cheryl Miller; that snub hurts more.

Especially since they're Black, but the Lakers got James so nobody in their right mind is going to go after the Lakers on that issue, yet.

honestly I first thought he would be another LeGM scapegoat but Red is very close to a lot of current players and is a student of the game, so he wontbe out of touch with today’s young players

He also has a great relationship with his superstar, and that’s very important

But the Lakers are rin by a bunch of clowns, so who knows

He's going to do what he's told. He'll toady to the front end (including James) grateful just to be an NBA head coach for as long as it lasts.

Buss ain't walkin' thru that door. Jackson ain't walkin' thru that door. Stern, yes, Stern ain't walkin' thru that door. Nobody is walkin' thru that door. We're bereft. We're bankrupt on every level cept $. We are and have been unmoored/set adrift for many years...and honestly? Since Cuban invaded our set-up and put a stopper in the bottle on it forever more. We squeezed out that double with Kobe and the COVID give-a-way with James, but we're ed.
