I think it’s pretty clear what happened. The Spurs made a promise to Salaun at 8 and then floated all sorts of rumors of their interest in other prospects to distract attention away from him. Then, when Charlotte took him at 6, the Spurs were left with no choice but to trade the pick to the team with the best offer, which happened to be Minnesota.
Doesn't make sense for Sac. Maybe still a trade.
