We seem to have forgotten that our miracle shot doctor now works for OKC
Knee jerk take: discount Nikola Topic?
I'm guessing he will be stashed for at least one year.
If you thought Castle had a broken jumper, look out.

Financial move? What's the point of Indiana and SA swapping back to back picks? Is there a financial difference between 35 and 36?
WTF are we even doing? Seems Furphy was a great selection only to have it snatched away in a trade with...the team that picked next and traded that pick back to SA?? Are we sure Nunez is a Spur? Sounded like it on ESPN but they never showed it on screen and the interviewer certainly didn't know.
Glad we found a draft and stash. Wouldn't want to take precious opportunities away from Blake Wesley or Sir Jabari Rice.
He won't be stashed for 1 year, he'll be stashed forever
He allegedly recently signed a long term deal with Barcelona
The rumors were that Spurs wanted 35 to take a 2-way. When they couldn't get anyone to go with the plan, they decided they didn't want any money on the roster. If they had picked an American they could have forced a second round tender and gone to camp and probably force the Spurs to cut them.
This way, Nunez will never sign the tender because he'll never pay his buyout and the Spurs won't help him with it.
He will stay as "rights to Juan Nunez" in a potential future trade the next 15 years. He will never be a Spur.
Indiana gave us some cash. Holt Jr. can use that for a weekend bender in Vegas.
If he ever makes the team, this dude will be a fan favorite based on his name alone tbh![]()
I kind of don't mind the pick, he could be a 6'4 Tre.
But if they're actually serious about this guy, then Tre needs to be included in a package this summer and Nunez needs to come over right away.
If Tre gets another contract, Nunez doesn't have a future with the Spurs.
he's going to be the Nikola Milutinov of Adam Hanga's
I mean, just trade or sell the pick outright at this point.
This team clearly has different priorities than improving the roster via this draft.
Fresh off the press, hes been traded back to the pacers for a 2098 4th round pick because in the year 2098 there will be 4 rounds in the draft.
Maybe he’ll be like Printezas, and we’ll trade him back to Indy in 10 years.
Spurs drafting like they’re le contenders“Have to get a draft and stash guy, too many valuable players already fighting for roster spots”
![]()
I tend to agree that Nunez is a very long shot to ever actually come over.
Last year we at least got two future SRPs for #33 - this year we appear to have just thrown #35 away for a little bit of cash and a stash that may never come over.
It definitely invites questions about this FO's ability to properly utilize assets. There is no point in acquiring all of these assets if you just throw them away.
Spurs are trying to build the Texas version of the great wall of China, only with bricks and cheap labour by employing players
I guarantee this kid will never play a single minute for the Spurs tbh![]()
Couldn’t they just not submit a pick to the league and decline the pick.
Yup. Weird going on.
Yeah, pretty much. This isn't about Nunez, he was just convenient.
For some reason the Spurs are allergic to adding anybody beyond Castle. They're playing like they're the Knicks or another team close to the hard cap.
This franchise is broken. They have no clue. They actually think current players are a core when we have two nba players on the team. Maybe 3.
After pick 35, might as well forfeit pick 48 and save ESPN some air time. This wasn't a great draft, but the spurs made it even suckier for the spurs fans.
This guy will be like Milicic who will come over when he's 32 and will suck then, too.
Legler questioning our draft tells me all I need to know because that guy is normally effusive with his Spurs praise.
Because a team with maybe four players you could consider potentially foundational and twelve players whose certainty in the league is in question is just throwing away its draft picks left and right.
I don't think I've ever seen this before. It's like their roster is complete and they can't spend any more money.
It's pretty apparent to everyone with a brain that this FO has absolutely lost their fastball. I know it comes across as minor because we're talking about 2nd rounders now.
But how they've operated in the draft (sans the absolute no brainer pick in Wemby) is just extremely disturbing.
I don't think it's hyperbole that this coaching staff/FO is bottom 3 in the league. It's ing terrifying tbh.
