Biden debate debacle: 10 eye-opening media responses, from MSNBC panic to 'The View' calling for replacement

Many of Biden’s media allies have seen enough

The first debate of the 2024 presidential campaign didn't go to plan for President Biden. If the goal was to assuage concerns about his age and viability, it couldn't have gone worse.
Shortly after the debate began and Biden began his notably halting, unsure and raspy performance, the takes began pouring in, and it didn't get better in the aftermath.
From calls to step aside from the nomination to outright emotional reactions from his fervent supporters, here are 10 of the most eye-opening media responses to Biden's debate showing:

MSNBC’s Joy Reid says Democrats ‘approaching panic’

MSNBC host Joy Reid appeared downtrodden as she said her phone was buzzing with Obamaworld and Bidenworld figures frantically texting her with concerns that Biden appeared "extremely feeble and weak," adding that his performance left many in his own party rattled heading into November.
"My phone really never stopped buzzing throughout. And the universal reaction was somewhere approaching panic," Reid said.
"The people who were texting with me were very concerned about President Biden seeming extremely feeble, seeming extremely weak," she continued. "Joe Biden’s job was to reassure them tonight. His job was to calm his party, to make them feel that, ‘Yes, I can do this. I have four more years in me. I have the ability and the stamina and the strength to do four more' … He did not do that. He did the opposite of that."

An alarming 72% of Americans say President Joe Biden is not only mentally and cognitively unfit to be president but he also should not run for reelection, an eye-opening poll result released Sunday found after Thursday night's debate.

Biden does not have the "mental and cognitive health to serve as president," according to 72% of Americans in the CBS News/You Gov poll out Sunday.

While this total is alarming, it only expands on the majority of Americans who already saw it. This 72% is 7 points higher than three weeks ago, when it was still a 65% majority of Americans who see it the way Donald Trump, his campaign, and conservative media have seen it for years.

Thursday's night debate just now brought on 7% more to the American majority.

That move is largely from Democrats abandoning their leading nominee Biden: 46% of Democrats in the poll now say Biden should no longer seek reelection — up 10 points from three weeks ago.

The poll also revealed the top reasons Biden "shouldn't be running for president":

His age, say 86%, which matches the age Biden will be when he would finish a prospective second term (86).
71% say the decisions he might make in office.
66% say his record as president.
59% say his ability to campaign effectively.
Despite all this, 55% of Democrat registered voters say Biden should continue to press on, compared to 45% who say he should step aside.

The CBS News/YouGov survey sample of 1,130 registered voters nationally June 28-29. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.2 percentage points.

Even in 2024, I don't see, on a national level, America on a national level stomaching voting for an openly gay man for president.

Don't forget 80% of the USA is still Christian in some form, and even in the swing states religious churchy people far outnumber atheist and agnostics.
It will be Biden-Harris until the election. I see it likely that Biden steps down in the first year.

I would note that 81 year old males have a 35% mortality rate over the course of four years, and even if he doens't pass, there is a high likelihood he will be incapacitated to the point where Kamela steps in

Then it will be a black woman and a gay man running for the Dems in 28.
