I don't mind the Spurs bringing back whomever they want for summer league. But I hope they plan to bring in compe ion for their two-way spots. Ingram may well grab that 15th spot in the regular roster. But if he doesn't he'd obviously take one of the three two-way spots. The other two shouldn't be promised to guys like Duke, Gray or Bouyea. If they win the spots, fine, the team can bring in 21 guys, which likely means six guys for the two-way spots or seven guys for the two-way spots and/or the 15th spot (or I guess eight guys for the 14th-17th spots, but apparently Bassey's in line to get his spot back with no compe ion). As the team gets filled in more and more with vets, the two-way spots are going to become important again.
I can see the Spurs' giving at least an initial two-way to Bouyea and/or Duke. If you can find a guard who can credibly run an offense in the G-League, giving him a little bump in pay for at least part of the season to keep him in Austin isn't a bad idea.
A question I have is what would it take to keep Ward in the States? Is he looking for a guaranteed multi-year contract? Is a two-way enough? What about an X-10 deal? I actually like him as an option in case there is upheaval with the roster later in the season. He seems like a guy who can backfill for Champagnie or could hold down a wing role if the Spurs find themselves down a couple at the trade deadline. I want to make a more comprehensive thread talking about the bottom of the roster. I think I might wait to see what happens with Bassey first, because discussion about five spots (two of which are with the main roster) is significantly different than discussion about only four.
hope we get gray back as well.Get sum decent players back on this summer roster.
Also cam spencer who in two games shooting like 50 perecent from 3,AVeraging like 14 a game looking decent.Spurs passed on
him twice in the second round. One of the best shooters we passed on.Would of been great to tag along with castle.
If he turns out to be a good role player,I will be so annoyed. Will be keeping up with him.
Has he been signed by someone else to a contract?
memphis drafted him 53rd and signed him to a two way contract.
Last season, he was paid €150K (about $160K). He had a very good year so he can expect to be paid more this season in Europe. Maybe around $300K?
A two way way contract, with the promise that he won't be cut in the first couple of months, might be enough to convince him.
One of my irritations with the off-season was not grabbing Cam Spencer, especially given the synergies we see from all those Villanova guys at NYK.
3 newbies on the summer league team, anybody know of those guys
Darn, that sucks. Looks like they got a couple of the guys that could have helped the Spurs.
only time will tell
Summer roster bolstered
The Spurs added three players to their Vegas roster: forward Donovan Williams, guard D'Moi Hodge and forward Ibrahima Diallo.
Williams, a 22-year-old Houston native, and Hodge were NBA rookies last season. It should benefit Castle to have experienced players to work with as he looks to improve his decision-making as a point guard.
Williams played in two games last season for Atlanta after going undrafted out of UNLV following two seasons at Texas. Hodge, 25, played in seven games last season for the Lakers after going undrafted out of Missouri following two years at Cleveland State.
Diallo, 25, is a 7-foot undrafted rookie from Central Florida after playing two seasons at Ohio State and two seasons at San Jose State.
Guard David Duke Jr. also rejoined the Spurs in Vegas after having his free agent rights renounced so the Spurs could sign Chris Paul and trade for Harrison Barnes.
Summer Spurs move to Vegas after leaving Sacramento with a splas (expressnews.com)
Dillingham with a 2-12 4/5/5 debut.
TSJ with a 9-14 25/3 debut.
TSJ looked solid! But he’s kinda the perfect archetype for summer league lol
who is TSJ?
Terrance shannon jr
Terrence Shannon Jr.
Picked in the 20s cuz bro had some legal trouble(exonerated) at Illinois and is 23 yrs old.
oh aight I stopped doing my research on prospects who were mocked after 15
