What is this obsession with him playing fast? Have you ever watched SGA? Have you ever watched Luka? Neither of them play fast. You play at your pace.

I just want to see how he does.If hes a pg who can adapt.Obviously if you can play fast pace,It can be an advantage to break
down a opponents defence especially with his size.

Exactly! Perfect example is Kyle Anderson aka "Slo-Mo" ......... his snail pace speed works for him.

Castle is a big guard who overpowers his defender, instead of asking him to play fast. I want him to attack the rim and get to the stripe more.

He’s never going to be Dillingham. He’s a big 6”6” 210 physical guard who uses strength, balance, footwork and ball handling to get where he needs to go.

One of the POSITIVES in the draft evaluation of a guard is “He doesn’t get sped up”.

And if that’s an issue, Pop will tell him “Don’t cross the midcourt line at 17, cross it at 19-20”. Problem solved.

topic is also a big guard. But he seems to be able to play fast making plays and handling the ball.

You don't need to play super fast to succeed. As long as he can play at his own pace and get to the spots he wants to get to, get his shot off with accuracy, and pass the ball and set up other guys to score, you don't have to play at warp speed like Tony Parker used to.

Castle is a big guard who overpowers his defender, instead of asking him to play fast. I want him to attack the rim and get to the stripe more.
Before this 3 point era, this was my favourite type of guard. Someone who could get to the rim and finish with contact. That's why I used to like what little I saw of Michael Jordan when I was a kid. It's why I loved Manu. It's why I really liked a prime Dwyane Wade. These guys all took it to the rack looking to finish (contact or no contact). It's also why I hated guys like James Harden and those types of players looking to draw the touch fouls and get their points from the free throw line. MJ, prime Manu, prime D-Wade didn't give a about drawing fouls (well maybe Dwyane did draw some fouls, but he still took it to the rack hard). They were looking to finish, and if drawing a foul at the same time happened too, that was just a bonus. If he can play like this (get to the rim and finish or draw the foul), plus play PG, I'll be more than happy. I know these days, though, that you need a somewhat reliable jump shot too, so hopefully he can develop one.

It's not going to be a big deal, they'll work it out. I have mild concerns that he'll get jammed in the backcourt by great defenders, and these games he's been a bit slow working out of there, but it'll be fine.

Castle plays at a deliberate speed allowing him to speed up or slow down in a moments notice; this keeps the defense off balance.

Sidy Cissoko hit a 3 point shot yesterday. That's great.

He also hit the side of the backboard on another one. Not as great.

    Castle’s shot is broken
I think he needs a complete rebuild of form AND confidence.
This should not be new information to anyone here!!!!

His NBA future depends on whether that shot can be rebuilt.
I don’t know what that development plan looks like, but I don’t think we should give him a bunch of NBA minutes right away where he just keeps doing the same thing.
I will say that everything else he does is extremely impressive and the sky is the limit if he can learn to shoot

Definitely isn't broken and doesn't need to be rebuilt. Definitely needs tweaking tbh.

Playing at a very fast pace on purpose when the team lacks talent overall is a sneaky way to tank. Bad teams get outscored on a per-possession basis, so having more possessions makes it more likely that they lose.

Castles shot is all that needs attention. He has great vision, great strength in the paint, defense and low post scoring ability. He's too young to say he can't be a good shooter. Once he acclimates to the speed and size of NBA, he will better understand how to set up for shots and develop a consistent form.

think this should put any discussions about starting castle to bed. Let him develop in peace, like he's supposed to do.

As long as he sticks to basketball pop is fine
He just gets sidetracked like a old fool sometimes
His assistants need to keep In line .
