Is there a question there?
Not sure what you are fabricating.

Fabbs: Pop could have done better with the Player of His Generation Timmy Dunker along with GNob, Parker, HOF sub Bob Horry many more. Here are exact years.
Phabricator: No no Pop is the GOAT. No reasons given, just Pop is the GOAT.
Fabbs. Whatever. Don't forget to vote.
It's 3-2 in favor of No he wasn't.![]()
The poll makes no sense. The question is can pop be considered a goat coach. The choices are he never was and never will be, or he is the goat coach.
There are no he used to be, he could be, he is considered a goat coach, he was never considered as a coach goat, he will not be considered a goat coach in the future in retrospect, etc… the two choices don’t even have much to do with the question.
No, the question is can a coach who has won 1 Championship in 17 years be considered the GOAT coach.
I can't really answer this poll. I don't have a strong opinion on whether Pop is or isn't the greatest coach of all time, but I don't think that is actually an answerable question. Ranking coaches is so arbitrary because you can never be sure how much of their success was uniquely caused by them.
It doesn't matter anyway. He's one of the most successful coaches of all time, and that's a verifiable fact. Let's leave it there.
Of course it's arbitrary.
GOAT is arbitrary but "successful" is not?
Duncan was great and I like what Pop did with Kwa Leonard in the 2016 playoffs up until Zaza changed the course of NBA history.
Regardless of how successful one finds Coach Pop......
He is no doubt the NBA coach who has participated in the most games All Time. That is a fact and will continue to be so for at least the next 10 years.
I don't see Philly in Miami nor Coq Rivers ever catching Pop for # of games coached.
Philly might catch Pop for wins (I doubt it) and Coq might catch him for losses (i doubt it).
I cannot even take you seriously. Have you never heard of Lenny Wilkens? Coach Pop has the most career wins, but not the most career games coached.
This is what I mean when I say your opinion is worthless since it's founded on ignorance, just inventing and rolling with it. Google is your friend.
2209 + 284 playoff games.
=2,493 for Craig Popplevich.
In 2 more seasons when Pop passes Lenny Wilkens for most games I will repost. My visionary skills will have manifest themselves again.
Until then i have provided you with "gotchya" fapping material. Rejoice and enjoy.
No one counts the post season, might as well count pre season too.
post season >>>>>>>>>>>>> preseason.
Either way Wilkens has more games. A lot more.
He crossed my mind but i errored 100 in just how many games Wilkens has coached.
1979 he got a Chip with the Seattle Sonics.
1980-81 was one of the saddest breakdowns in NBA when Gus Williams sat out the entire year in a contract dispute. Plus injuries, Paul Silas retirement. Sonics were never the same. Wilkens would never sniff the Finals again.
No because it's literally quantifiable. Number of wins, number of championships, COTY selections, etc.
Yes - the fact that he had success is quantifiable, but the degree to which his success was caused by him is impossible to determine.
The former is correlation; the latter is causation.
So this makes the poll even worse as both possible responses only specified pop.
Not in terms of RS wins. Once again you are all over the place. Pick a lane and stay in it.
Why would you want to exclude playoff games?
It's quantifiable based on what the stated goals were each season. If you look at the long term effect he has on the NBA in general and coaches specifically, there's no debate to be had. If you're a fan of a team that has won 5 of 6 Finals under the same coach, you might use rings as a measuring stick, but then that's not really a debate either. Only Phil Jackson has more rings since Pop started coaching, and he had Michael, Kobe and Shaq. Phil has one COtY award, same number as Avery Johnson.
sportswriters.
The winner is selected at the end of the regular season by a panel of sportswriters from the United States and Canada, each of whom casts a vote for first, second and third place selections.
Because the NBA does.
So people who know sports exponentially better than you.
It's a legit accolade, just like all NBA, MVP, DPoY, etc.
You cannot just cherry pick stats and booger stick them together to win a silly point.
Timmy Duncan never won a DPOY
Kirby Bryant has the most 1st Team All Defense selections ever.
One writer did not vote for Shaq for MVP in 2001.
Do you really swallow the biased swill of main stream media sports writers?
I took such to heart when said (swill) told me right up front the Lakers had done until they beat the Celtics for the NBA le which would never happen. me, I went into a tail spin thru '83, then thru '84, then Magic grabbed some jacks and timbers and started down. And we beat the Celtics in '85 in Boston...it was like somebody had died, or worse, lost money on that CBS telecast. Hushed tones, pale faces, more hushed tone, like in church.
Now Truimp didn't do that. tee, hee.
Magic did that.
You can find 12 of the most ridiculous of anything, doesn't make you smarter.
