Media Slow To Label Shooting Assassination Attempt
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's campaign rally was interrupted by apparent shots fired Saturday night around 6:13 p.m. ET in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Secret Service buried him at the podium before the sounds from his mic saying "shooter down."
A defiant Trump rose after moments with what looked like blood from his ear, saying "let me get my shoes," holding up a defiant fist and saying "fight, fight, fight," as he was helped back to the motorcade.
Rather than come out and label the shooting an assasination attempt, the mainstream media has instead referred to what unfolded as an "incident."
CNN led with: "Trump Injured In Incident at Pennsylvania Rally."
MSNBC followed suit with "Trump Rushed Offstage at Pennsylvania Rally by Secret Service After Loud Popping Noises Heard."
The New York Times headline read "Trump Rushed Offstage After Chaos at Rally."
Former President George W. Bush said in a statement, "Laura and I are grateful that President Trump is safe following the cowardly attack on his life. And we commend the men and women of the Secret Service for their speedy response."
And House Republican Marjorie Taylor Green posted on X: "Someone just tried to ASSASSINATE President Trump. The Democrats and the media are to blame for every drop of blood spilled today. For years and years, they’ve demonized him and his supporters. Today, someone finally tried to take out the leader of our America First and the greatest President of all time. Watch the video, President Trump said 'FIGHT,' SO WE WILL!!"
