Timmy Duncan never won a DPOY
Kirby Bryant has the most 1st Team All Defense selections ever.

One writer did not vote for Shaq for MVP in 2001.

Do you really swallow the biased swill of main stream media sports writers?
And you think Pop has coached the most games in the NBA when you made this thread.

It's quantifiable based on what the stated goals were each season. If you look at the long term effect he has on the NBA in general and coaches specifically, there's no debate to be had. If you're a fan of a team that has won 5 of 6 Finals under the same coach, you might use rings as a measuring stick, but then that's not really a debate either. Only Phil Jackson has more rings since Pop started coaching, and he had Michael, Kobe and Shaq. Phil has one COtY award, same number as Avery Johnson.
Yeah, I agree. I was arguing that his success is quantifiable.

I'm not saying the awards were or were not deserved. I'm simply saying he did in fact receive those awards.

You do realize I'm not on either side of this debate, right? That was the whole point of my initial post. All I said was that he accomplished certain things, but that does not necessarily mean he's the greatest coach of all time.

So your proof of sportswriters suck is an article saying how sportswriters suck written by a sportswriter?

Yes. Just because many sportswriters suck does not mean all of them do.
The article had on point examples.

Can you, without changing the subject address this?
Marc Gasol winning Defensive Player of the Year but not making 1st Team All-Defense

Two different voting groups for the awards. I addressed it already. Media voted for RS individual awards, coaches voted for all NBA teams.

Just admit you didn't know (again). I cannot believe you been on an NBA forum for what, 20 years? and still don't know basic NBA .

You want to stick with that? Below is how All Star teams are selected. You wanna post a link to where the coaches selected the All Pro teams prior to 2013-14?

    • For the first 24 NBA All-Star Games, a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters were responsible for selecting each Conference’s starting five and three bench players. Coaches filled out the rest of the roster, which grew from 10 players to 12 players in 1961.
    • Fans were first given the opportunity to vote for NBA All-Star starters during the 1974-75 season. The seven reserves for each team were picked by each conference’s respective head coaches.
    • In 2016-17, current players and media joined the fans in the voting process.

You're showing All NBA, not All Defense. Yes I said "all NBA" but your argument is about DPOY vs All Defense selection conflicts. I think you're floundering now. No idea where you get All Star when talking about All NBA, then the All Pro comment. Not sure. Drugs?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_All-Defensive_Team

Voting is conducted by a panel of 123 writers and broadcasters.[1] Prior to the 2013–14 NBA season, voting was performed by the NBA head coaches, who were restricted from voting for players on their own team.[2][3]

Why Can't Coaches Get NBA All-Defensive Vote Right?

The NBA All-Defensive team includes head-scratching choices year after year, and this season is no exception. Why do the coaches do such a dubious job selecting the best defenders in the league?

They why did you quote an all star selection when Ty was talking about All NBA? I am not entirely sure what you were getting at?

Looks like he gave up. Probably digging around for some stats that don't mean what he thinks they mean.
