September and October is when the Santa Anna winds blow in from the desert in the LA area so it's the major fire season and far and away the hottest part of the year. Even though I think I saw a thunderstorm maybe twice in the ten years or so I lived there it's pretty normal to have 50-60 mph winds and when the Santa Annas start blowing in. Would hate to ride a motorcycle that time of year.
You ain't lying! It was hot in 22', rained the last night I was there, and the wind was insane at times yet still pretty hot when not in the shade. Either way, wish it wasn't so expensive out there and or politically weird or I would've left Texas a long time ago for California.

Huh? Texas is amazing in October. Definitely the time of year to hit all the cool desert in West Texas like Big Bend and Guadalupe Mtns.
I would think more like Nov to Feb.

Big bend doesn't have pretty fall colors like up north back east. Even Colorado in October is pretty scant in terms of fall foliage. The Hill Country probably has the best fall foliage in Texas but that's not saying much and not until mid November.

Even if politically weird, there's still plenty of normal people in CA, you just have to know where to find them...

CA is just cost prohibitive to live in. In N Out in the LA metro (its homebase) is now over $10 for the basic combo. For a ing fast food burger.

And In N Out is still the cheapest mainstream burger in California.

Another "dog day of summer" time day today of not sniffing 100. Last year, today...? 104 degrees F.

Multiple global models bullish on rain next week for South Texas, not just the TWC app baseline bum .

Meh a #1 Whataburger with cheese + medium fries + medium coke combo is $9.79 plus tax out here which is much more ridiculous given how much less the cost of living is here than there. ing Wendy's for a Dave's Single (eg their basic 1/4lb cheeseburger) + medium fries + medium coke is $10.69 out here. $10.19 here for a ty Whopper with cheese meal at Burger King. I don't think the $11.14 double double combo at In N Out in LA is crazy at all given what we're paying here from inferior chains.

Yeah the NWS has us decently below average in their forecast through early August, which is pretty major since historical average is 94 for this time of year.

When Newsom's statewide ban on beef goes into effect I wonder how much the In N Out veggie burger will cost... hopefully less, considering most veggies are grown there in the Central Valley.

Meanwhile Burger King's impossible whopper is the same amount

Looks like some sort of mesoscale convective system or an unusually far south dip in the subtropical jet for summer. Many many days of rain and below average summer temps. Similar to what we had in the first half of summer 2002.

Yeah I met some great people out in California the times I've been out there. More great people than weird politically. Although I did meet some big weirdos.

I love it out there though but the cost to live there is insane. My buddy spends way too much to live in a 3 bedroom house with 2 roommates that rotate every 6mo-1yr. His roommate situation is a revolving door unfortunately and he continuously fills those rooms up with people he doesn't know whatsoever. I hate roommates to begin with but just inviting strangers in to room with is quite dangerous imo.

bro, here in SATX the basic combo at In-N-Out starts at $10 when it used to start at like $8 not even 2 yrs ago if that. Thanks Quid Pro Joe for the awesome inflation!

When In N Out moved here in 2013 it was like $2.99 plus tax. Whataburger meanwhile was always stupid expensive, like $8 even in 2013 though back then they used to have bogo's and other decent coupons in the mail, not anymore.

Roommates are horrible and you legally can't even enforce the rent, you just have to get lucky and find people who will pay out of the goodness of their heart which is a 50/50 proposition at best. Also you have to hope they don't smoke weed and trash up the room. Dealt with that in 2017 and never will again.

It's definitely on the Democratic agenda. First they will ban red meat "it's carcinogenic and causes climate change", then they will come for the poultry and fish citing "ecological and health hazards".

The Green New Deal activists are the ones that need to lay off the meth. They want you to bake in your house with little or no AC ("just open your windows" - yeah right as if that would help it's 97 degrees outside!), not use gas stoves, take short showers only twice a week, only drive electric cars and live in 15 minute cities, be completely vegetarian, and pay fines and "carbon taxes" for doing things that the government doesn't consider "green" enough -- just look at Australia.

Overfishing, coral reefs etc. They'll find an excuse.

With poultry they'll say bird flu pandemic is just too dangerous of a risk as well as salmonella and other potential boogeyman avian diseases big government wants to "save" you from.

Meat is illegal in Australia? Carbon footprint is bull propaganda thought up by the oil companies to make people blame themselves for global warming instead of Exxon, BP, and the like. It's like you have never been to California saying like that when LA has more burger joints than about anywhere else I have ever seen. LA is at least as densely populated with burger stands and burger restaurants as San Antonio is with Mexican restaurants.

Not true, I've been there twice for significant periods of time and I'm very much aware that California is where most of America's biggest national burger chains were founded and started. The $20 minimum wage is ridiculous and it's forcing a lot of closures, unfortunately. Customers don't want to pay almost the same amount for fast food as for restaurant food, which hasn't gone up with inflation nearly as much.

Meat isn't illegal in Australia yet, but they've had a bull "carbon tax" for a couple decades or so now.

Not to mention that they literally locked down the country for 2 years over the plandemic.

Meh that's propaganda that minimum wage hikes are why fast food is expensive. Companies like McDonalds are great about manufacturing consent for price increases by whining about wages yet they have been over $20 an hour for years in Denmark without being any more expensive than US menu prices when they paid $7.25 an hour here. I hate the boomer idea that people should be there to wait on me when I want a burger but them they don't deserve any kind of remotely comfortable life because they're losers who didn't l3aRn 2 c0De (while also all those losers who went into debt to go to school to l3aRn 2 c0De). Every fast food place seems to have slashed their workforce anyways, every single one I ever go into looks understaffed. McDonalds for example is painfully slow in the drive-thru and when you go inside no one works the register when pre-pandemic there were always two registers manned any time other than after 11PM.

Yup, and McPrices are twice as high or more than they were before 2020 when real people worked the till registers instead of ordering on those stupid kiosks.
