Mark Kelly has been in the armed forces and the Senate. Those credentials were all that was needed for your Trump to nominate JD Vance.

Kelly is a much stronger candidate than Vance, I don't think anyone denies that. Kelly has a distinguished resume. Vance wrote a stupid book that they made a stupid movie about, married some ugly chick from India (because he's an incel who couldn't get a real American woman), became a quack lawyer, called Trump Hitler, flip flopped, and won an open Senate seat race in a deep-red state by 4%, underperforming the governor race by over 20%. Kelly, on the other hand, outperformed both Biden (2020) and Hobbs (2022) by 3-4%. Kelly, unlike Vance, is an electoral juggernaut.

The problem for you -- and for Democrats across the country -- is that the top of the ticket is not Kelly vs. Vance (Dems win easily in that scenario) but rather it's Kacklin' Kamala vs. Orange Man Trump, who's had a pretty good 2024 so far to his credit. In this case, the GOP is favorite. Obama has been saying all along that the Dems should hold an open primary, and he's absolutely right. Kamala is going to lose much worse than Hillary did. Trump will carry the popular vote.
Andy's confidence that Trump will win gives me confidence for Kamala -- dude has literally never made a correct call in this forum.
His biggest accomplishment in 2024 is the same as it's been every single year since and including 2015...they ain't blown his in' head off, yet. They worked it though to within less than a quarter of an inch and have the SS to stand down upon command...

The problem for the Dems with Kamala is that even though she has an extremely progressive voting record as Senator and comes off as progressive in the Biden admin years she's also going to get hammered to death for flip flopping for being the law and order California AG she was prior to going woke. She's trying to play both sides on the Israel issue which hurt Biden and Kamala is seen as anti Israel already. She's not seen as particularly smart or well spoken. She'll do alright with the resistlib base but seriously how many men are going to be enthused to turn out for her? Even black men under 50. White married women that do in fact have kids and aren't childless cat ladies can't stand her either. Suburban wine moms who have actually birthed children won't relate to her either. She'll certainly drive up turnout on the childless cat lady vote, but were they ever voting Republican anyway... ? Nope.
Problem for the Dems is he's not running against Trump. While he's far superior to Vance, the top of the ticket will drag down Dems big time if they don't listen to Obama's original advice
Biden and Hillary both were, but the Dem establishment is smart enough to understand that the "progressive / bernie wing" is a vocal minority, not what wins elections. You win elections by winning over independents and moderates, not by alienating them.
