joke memes aside, I have my su ions about what their operation is aiming for. I know what I would do, and I think they have a decent shot at accomplishing their goal.

I will know if I am right in about a week or so.
This will get the russians attention and a load of their troops should be shifted.

I do not see this as a major front but it could change. Putler probably see this as just a minor distraction.

However, if the Ukrainians continue running wild and go unchecked in Kursk, putler will lose more than face from it.

What I am not seeing is if the Ukrainians have sufficient air defenses to guard against heavy air bombing or if Patriots are nearby to make a difference.

If the nuclear power plant is in Ukraine’s plans, they have to be very careful.
I can see Russia blowing it up on their own; blaming Ukraine for radioactive material released.
Taking or controlling the nuclear power plant and shutting the power of without incident would be HUGE however.
Ukraine could theoretically scuttle the power production without danger and make it unusable. That power plant is apparently needed for a very large amount of power used in making industrial material. It also could be used for negotiations. but Russia would look so weak. I think Putin would rather just have it Blow up and send radioactive material everywhere. (Russia already put mines on the roads in some areas of possible Ukrainian advances on Kursk and Russian civilian vehicles trying to get out have apparently have run into them and blown up) “ thanks for the heads up guys. Nice of you to think about your own citizens”

these are very preliminary points of view. It’s just this incursion has the potential to be very different from the slow meat grinding Putin prefers with his people. It’s a radical change in strategy forced on Russia. For US citizens worried about our tax dollars, YOU probably want the more fanciful view that the power plant gets taken BY UKRAINE , and Russia negotiates. A whole lot could go wrong with this so I’m skeptical.

    Aside:
(also, for those US citizens worried about tax dollars, you should be more worried about the diabetic obesity drugs that are costing huge amounts of money in Medicare and privately. This is a very specific spending problem that could be addressed immediately)
Have not seen the Trumpers in love with Russia put up any threads on this problem.

nor any other Trumpers, nor any self-dubbed fiscal hawks.

the cost of Americans losing weight could blow up the budget, if not controlled.

Vlad Putin calls the Ukraine attack a "provocation"

I wonder what he calls a massive invasion of another country that involves kidnapping children and chopping up POWs...

A discussion between the Kremlin and general administrators in the Kursk region concerning who will be next to fall out of a hotel window.
I admire the cozy relaxed setting.

Compare this ISW assessment of Ukraine’s incursions into Russia with…

    Hater’s press releases.

Then think about the hater reads.

Ukrainian cross-border mechanized offensive operations into Kursk Oblast that began on August 6 are continuing as part of a Ukrainian operational effort within Russian territory. ISW will not offer assessments about the intent of this Ukrainian operation in order to avoid compromising Ukrainian operational security. ISW will not make forecasts about what Ukrainian forces might or might not do or where or when they might do it. ISW will continue to map, track, and evaluate operations as they unfold but will not offer insight into Ukrainian planning, tactics, or techniques. ISW is not prepared to map control of terrain within Russia at this time and will instead map observed events associated with the Ukrainian incursion into Russian territory as well the maximalist extent of claims and unverified reports about Ukrainian advances. Maximalist claims and unverified reports about Ukrainian advances within Russia do not represent territory that ISW assesses that Ukrainian forces have seized or control. Inferring predictions about Ukrainian operations from ISW maps and assessments that do not explicitly offer such predictions is inappropriate and not in accord with their intended use.

Not a nuclear power plant but the gas control station will work.

True, pipes going thru Ukraine would have stopped flow long ago. But it would make good site to put an air defense site as putler will not risk bombing the area.

This appears more serious than I would have thought.
It looks like Ukraine intends to control the highway running East out of Kursk.
Where is the Russian Air Force? A whole Russian supply convoy moving into the area to help stabilize is now destroyed .
Lots of options exist for Ukraine.

One thing is certain, a big political statement has been made. Russia is very large and very vulnerable.
And some administrator or military leader who is responsible for the Kursk region will feel the effects of gravity over multiple floors from accidentally falling off a building.

That uneasy tater look on his face

    Uneasy and pissed tater look.
    There are more photos.
These photos of the meeting are for the Russians responsible for “letting” this happen.
Remember dictators must instill real fear of death in upper level military and bureaucrats in order to maintain power.
It’s NEVER Putin’s fault for starting the whole “limited special operation”. It’s not a real war. This reflects badly on Putin.
Russia is a huge landmass and the Ukrainians have now inflicted real military and political pain. Like Russia is supposed to be able to cover every inch of land and Putin is NEVER at fault.

This is the type of governance Trump understands. And admires.

I am baffled at how long and how far the Ukrainians want to go. This takes a lot of fuel and logistics AND you must be able to cover the whole damn assault. It’s impressive militarily. If the Ukrainians really have this covered and plan to keep causing trouble it’s very significant after all this front line death grind war.

This is really surprising. I bet the Ukrainians did not inform their “allies”
