    This French coach....
A lot like the Spurs strategy with Craig Popplevich running Sochan at point and the Freeze Out Krew ignoring Wama.

Sure he's missing some shots, but he is contributing big time in other areas including defense.

And yes, he simply needs to continue to grow as a player. FFS he's only 20.

The German Center from the Boston Celtics guarding him today is no slouch. Solid player.

Summary. He's in the Gold Medal game with a coach as equally bad as Pop and a very average cast of teamates. That is doing very well!

Wemby's fine. He has to take some lumps. DAFfy isn't wrong too that FIBA may not end up being his game, at least not offensively. But I think he just needs more experience. You can't skip steps. You can go through them faster, but growing up takes time.

If all you consider is shooting efficiency, sure. Overall he's still being a very impactful player while playing within a system that doesn't always feature him.

A lot of top players aren't shooting well. It's a high-pressure tournament where single games are even higher pressure.

I've seen people mention this numerous times. He hasn't played for Boston for a while now (2 seasons ago I think).

Bopped from the Celts blown championship team to Indy, then played a solid bench role for the Clippers last season '23-'24 at 17 min per game in 59 games.

Just this past July he signed with the Pelicans.

Has been a solid if unspectacular bench player imo. Can also hork a reasonable trey for a muscleman PF.

He got away with a few fouls on Wemby, but that appears to be the way FIBA rolls.

True as Team USA found out, escaping only with Curry’s monstrous game.

People are forgetting that Victor is a kid, this is his first international tournament right after his first NBA season... He is gassed, I'm happy we are in final but as a Spurs fan I would have preferred France to be eliminated much sooner. Victor needs rest. What is encouraging is that despite his struggle in Offense he is not giving up and is playing elite defense and improving his passing.

Especially regular season games in the NBA. FIBA games are way more physical. Lebron has especially taken advantage of the physicality and mental toughness required in single big games.

NBA regular season sux. Way too many games. Like the NBA is MLB, it should not be imo. Cut the reg season and playoff series to 2 out of 3 and you will get frantic toughness more like FiBA played in the Olympics.

He’s fine, and while his offense is off, they are nowhere without his defense.

I wouldn't say anything is wrong per se, he just doesn't really have a bankable way to consistently derive offensive efficiency from right now.

Despite his proclivity for taking jumpers, he's not a good shooter right now. If you put a wing on him it neuters his off the dribble game and if that wing is stout enough he doesn't have the physique to punish them in the post. Obviously he's never going to be limited to rim running vertical spacer, so there's going to be a preponderance of poor shooting/high turnover games.

By this measure: Global Rating: The best players at the 2024 Olympic basketball tournament | HoopsHype, he still ranks as the 6th best player in the tournament.

He's terrible and overrated. Worst player on the Spurs, let alone the NBA.

I would agree that Wemby has to be tired and I thought I read he was feeling a bit banged up, leg/hip to that effect a week or so ago. Given Rudy is not allowed to play over a finger boo boo, that sounds fortunate we are seeing as much of Wemby as we are.

He has been off, the 3 pointers he has missed have largely seemed wide open to me. He's playing on the low end of anything we saw from him last year. The time to get hot would be this last game tomorrow though, not sooner since they made it.

I think it is possible that we have finally found a worse passing team than the Spurs. Where is the alley oop lob to Wemby? Still, he may not be full go in that regard (leg/hip?) Also, he has clearly been trying to be a team player and cog in the wheel, which makes sense given the "system", respecting older players like a Batum, and possibility that he is not 100%.

We need to sign his little French buddy Fournier to a minimum contract when Olympics is over. He would fit perfectly in Wesley’s or Branham’s roster slot!

Some kind of injury would be my guess. He only got to play 12 more years after those games.

Fournier is worse than either of them, and would do better than NBA minimum in Europe.
