But my point was mainly to highlight the french way of doing business and politic, 1st criteria is never the merit but always the personal or network interest.

Agree. USA was tested this time but it's not the first time that's happened. People act like the 2008 and 2012 teams were unstoppable but those gold medal games against Spain were no cakewalk. Obviously, the rest of the world continues to catch up since then.
Obviously the big three of LeBron / Curry / Durant won't be there (or be the same), but young guys like Ant, Booker, Tatum, etc will be in their primes.
We should continue to have the strong advantage in talent, but all it takes is one bad shooting night for things to swing quickly.

Lebron/Steph/KD are good enough to excel in any kind of situation without much preparation.
They're all-time greats. A tier above regular MVP level players.

If you're not a Lebron/Steph/KD level player, you need team chemistry.
It took amonster performance from the veterans to beat Serbia that has no talent on paper outside Jokic and Bogdanovic, without those three it's an easy blowout for them.
Jokic has one more Olympics in him, Serbia will surely aim for gold. If Jovic and Topic become good NBA players, it could get ugly for team USA.
With France potentially being more talented than Serbia.
Good points. I don't disagree, just saying a lot can change in 4 years...these young guys have been fighting for MVPs with the likes of LeBron / Steph / KD for years but there has to be a changing of the guard at some point.
Every generation has its own "generational" talent...the problem for the USA is, a lot of those are currently coming from other countries (Luka, Jokic, Giannis, Wemby, etc)
