polymarket had the odds of walz winning per polls at 70% before the debate. it's at 35% rn.
luckily for walz... even if walz had destroyed vance, everyone who was gonna vote trump still would have.
am curious about how much this will affect "swing" voters.
Except, Walz wants to increase the income tax across the board by 10%, and he confirmed that he would bring back the dreaded individual mandate of Obamacare, which enjoyed a paltry 19% national approval rating as of 2014.
Vance only interrupted Walz once -- on that very issue -- asking Walz specifically if he and Kamala would re-ins ute the individual mandate -- and once Walz affirmed yes, Vance smirked and knew he had that debate won not just for him but for Trump. That's going to be a big problem for the Dems now that that third rail was brought back, incidentally, by Walz.
Vance won the debate, and it wasn't close. Sure, he should have said something dry about 2020 like "sure - Biden got 81 million, Trump got 75 million, final score, let's move on" but he didn't completely dodge the issue but rather clearly state he wasn't interested in re-litigating 2020 but rather moving forward. A decent, though not the best, finesse job. Sure, Vance should have answered the question about separating families with discussing ending birthright citizenship, which is something I think needs to be pursued on a bipartisan level, but I don't think most Democrats would ever support it because they want the votes.
Vance: B+
Walz: C-
Sure, Vance just not being weird and playing Walz to a draw would have affected them to the right, but Vance outright winning and acting like an actual president unlike the other three clowns out of the four running, moves the needle amongst independents pretty massively tbh.
CNN's John King says "Republicans are happy tonight and Democrats a little bit nervous" as Tim Walz did nothing to narrow Kamala's deficit on the top two issues of the race.
He looks like he belongs in A Clockwork Orange.
That is a quite a bar for Vance to reach, "looks like a person for once."
Same thing with Dracula; he is portrayed as a villain but he cleans up well.
Supporting Vance because on climate change he said: “Let’s just say that’s true, just for the sake of argument, so we’re not arguing about weird science. Let’s just say that’s true”
Vance was able to keep a straight face when lying about trump “peacefully transferring power”
he is a trump-trained liar and is probably a better and more dangerous liar
Peter Thiel is counting on it.

$$$$$$$$$$
Media reactions after the JD Vance vs. Tim Walz debate.
Geraldo Rivera: JD Vance won the debate.
NBC: Does Tim Walz have a problem with the truth?
Chris Cuomo: JD Vance fact-checked the moderators and he was right.
CNN's John King: Vance carried the important issues.
CNN's Jake Tapper: JD Vance is a better debater.
MSNBC: *Live meltdown
JD Vance: Trump is an idiot.
But less of an idiot than the other three (Biden, Harris, and Walz).
Vance for President tbh, dump Trump off the ballot, it's not that he's too old he just never was that amazing to begin with
but I'd still grudgingly support Trump over the (D) alternative
Side note: I still don't get why Kamala didn't draft Shapiro. You gain a massive upper hand in the most important swing state in the election and you gain someone who's well spoken, smart, and articulate, and well experienced with debating. Rather than this dumb old schmuck who's a partisan hack leftist, a liar, a big government shill who doesn't have the stones to call out the big asset manager companies (BlackRock, Blackstone, Vanguard, etc) regarding the housing questions in the debate, and a fake populist who is a Chinese communist sympathizer and charges all of his state's citizens 10% on their earned income in addition to everything they have to pay the IRS. And resorts to "but muh Cheney and Taylor Swift"... laughable. And, let's not forget, he is friends with the school shooters. The school shooters, they are Tim Walz's friends; it came out of his very mouth.
Side note 2: Vance is also guilty for only blaming the housing shortage and high house prices on illegals and lack of building on BLM land. While that is somewhat part of the problem, the BigAsset oligarch companies such that those I mentioned are the biggest problems, and there needs to be some sort of a federally regulated profit cap and wealth cap on those corporate businesses in that industry such that only say 10% of all single-family homes in each state and only in certain communities can be allowed to be investment properties used as rentals. I'm a strong proponent of federally enforced wealth caps on large corporations. That would be a very populist, based answer. Go after the big oligarchs. They are corrupt and dirty and finance the Dems anyway.

Yup. Been saying it
The contrast in grown adult priorities
The Left is out of touch with the World in 2024. I'm sure it's a hit on teenagers tick tock. Election day will be a test on the maturity level of the average American citizen.
The debate was relatively even and felt very normal by Trump standards. It’s clear Trump is and will continue to be the primary catalyst for a significant portion of the nastiness in American politics as long as he’s actively participating. There’s a very real sense that once he’s gone, our country might actually start moving forward again.
JV is younger and a more eloquent liar than Rump
Of course he'd get mad for being fact checked.
This lie is putting Haitians in danger. Eff him and Rump.
Was or was not Walz at Tieneman Square during the attack?
He looked like "busted" when asked and then gave a long politician type answer.
I expect that from Trump puppet but not Walz.
Guyliiner Pink Tie tries to spin Jan 6th as the same as 500K spent on Facebook.
And some are calling this debate a phucking tie?
or more Rad Trads in the highest levels of govt. Stacking the SC with them is evil
He thinks JD is dumber than him
