Thanks for the grades Timvp. On point once again! I wanted the win over OKC. But they played vets while we had most of our starters out, so. I want to see more of Castle with the rock. I really thought he could play the Demar-type combo and facilitate some. I don’t like the idea of not starting our top 4 pick and not get him the chance at ROY. I rather Barnes at 4, and Sochan plays off the bench.:

There was clear chemistry between Wesley and Castle tbh, not sure if anyone caught that.

Steph isn’t a 3 but they might be forced to play him there a few if both Branham and Wesley keep it up. But if either the bed with inconsistency, the Spurs have the luxury to play Castle even more, eventually supplanting one of them permanently.

    Premature regular season lineup:

    Paul/ Tre/ Wesley/ Flynn
    Vassell/ Castle/ Branham
    Barnes/ Champ/ Keldon
    Sochan/ Sandro/ Sidy
    Wemby/ Collins/ Bassey

    PG: Paul
    PG: Tre
    PG: Flynn
    G: Wesley
    G: Branham
    GW: Castle
    W: Vassell
    WF: Champ
    F: Barnes
    F: Keldon
    F: Sidy
    BFC: Sochan

We lack serious shooting. It'll be nice if Branham was a good shooter despite is other shortcomings.

My prediction is that the following players are out (and everyone else is kept) by this summer:

    -Keldon
-Branham or Wesley, not both (I think Branham is the one chosen to be removed)
    -Tre Jones
    -Collins

So could a package of Keldon + Branham + Tre + Collins get us something nice? A bag of peanuts, maybe?

I liked what I saw from Steph tonight. I would have actually liked to have seen him look to score more often. There's players on the team jacking up shots left, right and center that probably shouldn't be.

Mamu was good too. Definitely shows a high IQ out there. Can anyone tell me why it was even a question of bringing him back? I think he's clearly much better than a few of the players on the team, but it seemed like it was a late decision to even bring him back. Doesn't make sense to me.

Negotiation tactic, tbh. Why outbid yourself for a guy who really wants to be here? There was no market for Sandro. It’s a smart move for them while keeping his price low. May be able to extend him for multiple years after this one if he does well.

Riley Minix also looks like a really good shooter and can also maybe shoot at this level (it's only one game, but I liked his shot and confidence taking those shots).

As for Mamu, it didn't feel like a negotiating tactic to me, it felt like they weren't keen on bringing him back. Maybe I'm wrong on that, but just seemed for a minute there where it was looking like they're not going to bring him back at all.

The guy was there with the team ALL summer without a contract. He was there with the team in summer league, practices, offseason hangout photos, Castle’s introduction after he was drafted — if you paid attention to all that, he very clearly was going to be here.

Theres still gonna be spacing issues cause barnes aint a shooter like that either.Sochan and barnes starting wont work.
Rather have to two good shooters next to wemby like mamu and barnes or even champ.Sochan cant shoot like that
to space the floor.Got more confidence in mamu to do that.

Coach CP3 is going to pay dividends in the long run. They showed a graphic during the game tonight all the bumps in team win percentage after CP3 was with the different clubs he's played for. +.200 +.100, he brings a wealth of knowledge.

    Career

    Barnes 1283-3382 38%
    Mamu 71-215 33%

Come again? And Mamu/ Barnes is too porous defensively. Everything Mamu gives you on offense he takes back on the other end.

    As much as I agree,

Tre is Pop's new pet and I'm afraid he'll be extended

Finding a 6th man profile isn't easy and I can see Keldon having a shot one last season

Can't see Collins moved with scrubs like Kesller worth 2 FR picks

White was Pop’s pet. The Spurs have proven that they’ll let a player go if they can yield a decent return.

If it wasn't for PATFO tanking I don't think Tre would be in the league, or not with a 10M/season deal. He brings nothing

Huge respect bc he's an overachiever, but I just don't see why a team would trade for him

I see the spurs are still using the collapse 4 on the drive defense and then try to get back to defend the 3 on the hot potato pass around the 3 line

Trades aren’t 100% about player value. Especially these days, in the era of the second apron, they are in large part about contract value. Do you think that any of those 3 players that NY signed to deals $1 over the NBA minimum for the specific purpose of trading them to Charlotte so that NY’s outgoing salaries were > their incoming salaries had any NBA player value?

I think that changes when you have either Wemby/Bassey protecting the middle.

Tre is a solid backup PG. His assist/TO is up there with his brother.

I'm aware but Tre's situation is more complex

It's the last year of a 10M/y deal and considering Pop's affection for him I just don't see him being traded for his expiring deal

Pop loves the guy, dgaf and isn't in a rush, this season is just step 2 and even if he'll never admit it he's not motivated by winning. I don't see any move coming
