A longtime ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin has predicted that the majority of Russian companies could go bankrupt due to the increasingly high interest rate.
Sergey Chemezov, CEO of the state-owned Rostec, which produces much of Russia's arms and military equipment, issued the warning while addressing the Federation Council earlier this week, according to Russian outlet Business Gazeta.
Chemezov criticized the Russian central bank's elevated key interest rate, which, following his comments, was raised by an additional two percentage points on Friday to a record 21 percent.
"There is no 20 percent profitability anywhere. Maybe in the drug trade, but even the sale of weapons does not bring such a profit," he said.
Chemezov said that the high key interest rate drives up borrowing costs for businesses, which hurts their profitability, including Rostec's.
"It is simply not profitable for enterprises to use borrowed funds, as I have already said many times. It is just that if we continue to work like this, then practically the majority of enterprises will go bankrupt," he said.

BRUSSELS (AP) — North Korea has sent about 10,000 troops to Russia to train and fight in Ukraine within “the next several weeks,” the Pentagon said Monday, in a move that Western leaders say will intensify the almost three-year war and jolt relations in the Indo-Pacific region.
Some of the North Korean soldiers have already moved closer to Ukraine, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said, and were believed to be heading for the Kursk border region, where Russia has been struggling to push back a Ukrainian incursion.

Why wouldn't you believe North Korea would be sending troops to Ukraine?
And other sources confirming. But why do you care other than the fact that Russia begging neighbors for help further deepens your 3-5 day hole
It would make more sense strategically if the North Korean troops stayed in Russia and just focused on expelling Ukraine's forces from Kursk.
NK troops are being led by russian generals bent on a grinding war effort in Kursk.
Expect the NK following orders blindly and being slaughtered quickly in 21th century warfare they were not trained for.
Really this IS training for them since they haven't tried to destroy anything in over a decade besides [checks notes] balloons and loudspeakers.
There are Chinese embedded you can bet on that
Then they'll be similar in quality to a lot of Russians conscripts except maybe a bit younger.
NK troops will be better trained and disciplined than the conscripts. But, unfortunately for them as I said before, they will attack as a unit and follow orders and die en masse.
Chinese government troops are there taking notes, no doubt about that; some Chinese mercenaries are there too but I doubt too many stay long as russian generals are leading them. Word get back home quickly about how they are led so most are discouraged.
They're not trained for what they're about to see and they'll have to deal with the added difficulty of language/culture/etc. barriers.

Kim Sends Teen Soldiers, Not Special Forces, as North Korea Joins Russia’s War Effort
As North Korea reportedly prepares to deploy troops to Russia, analysts suggest that these soldiers are not elite forces but instead newly conscripted “cannon fodder” in the early stages of their military service.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the North Korean troops dispatched are estimated to be recruits in their teens and twenties based on available footage and intelligence analysis. Military experts note that these soldiers appear relatively short and less physically fit, likely reflecting North Korea’s widespread poverty.
Initially, South Korean and Ukrainian authorities believed the deployed North Korean unit to be the 11th Corps, an elite force similar to South Korea’s Special Warfare Command. Also known as the “Storm Corps,” this North Korean unit is reputed for its specialization in sabotage and assassination. However, experts now suggest that these troops may be ill-suited for the trench warfare taking place on the plains of Ukraine and Russia, as they were likely trained primarily for assassination and infrastructure sabotage in mountainous terrain.
