I mean, his methods looked exactly like Pop’s, all the way down to running Point Branham.

Good win, but let’s not get crazy

Wesley didn’t enter the game until Mitch cleared the bench. That’s progress.

I thought subs ution patterns looked better.
Our main guys got more minutes than usual, resembling more of a normal distribution of minutes that you’d see in other teams.
We did t give our scrubs tons of unearned time to ruin the game.
We also called timeouts to stop Minny runs where Pop often lets them go too long.
It’s not a sea change in coaching but it’s nice to see us do the little things better.

One game against an opponent on the tail-end of a back-to-back does not a pattern, make.

    Neat win though.

this is the first time I've seen this team run real sets with multiple offball screens and they actually executed them well. Also he never played more than one non-shooter. I can't wait for Pop to run out the Tre Jones/Wesley/Castle/Sochan/Collins line up. We know it's gonna happen.

Well... it looks like Mitch could be the interim coach for some time...

San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Mitch Johnson is expected to serve as the interim coach indefinitely while Gregg Popovich is dealing with a "health issue," according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Charania reported the situation for Popovich arose before Saturday's 113-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 75-year-old wasn't on the bench due to an undisclosed illness.

"Mitch did a great job," point guard Chris Paul said after the victory. "Things happen within this league all the time, and just like with players it's 'next man up.' So shout out to Mitch."

Johnson began his coaching career in 2016 with the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League. He moved on to San Antonio in 2019 and steadily moved up the bench with the departures of Tim Duncan, Becky Hammon and Will Hardy.

After CP3 retires, if he want to be coach of SA.

Who would you pick as the HC? CP3 or Mitch?

Did he see the value in Bassey and make the bold call to find minutes for him?
