Its early in the season, but Wemby has missed 5 of 24 games with non major injuries. If he keeps this pace he may not qualify for a seasonal award. Small injuries and load management come with a price.
Any word on Zollins or KJ?

He’s not on a pace to miss the 18 games that would disqualify him. The 27 game mark is basically one third of the season, and if he’s still at the five game mark, he’s 3 games ahead of disqualification if he even keeps missing games at this rate. I mean as a raw rookie, he played 71 games, and that was with a period of no back to backs and minute restrictions.
19 / 24 = 79.16666666% * 82 = 64.91
So actually, he is on a pace to miss the qualification threshold.
I’m not worried about it though, unless he sustains a real injury.
They still suck

Spot on math. The thing that worries me is that Wemby isn't exactly built for a long 82 game season so injuries pop up here and there even small ones. What really worries me is that damned load management that the spurs front office is so fond of. Add injuries and load management and he may not make 65 games. A "real" injury and he probably kisses any award goodbye.
How many games has that skinny ass Chet Holmgren missed this season or since he was drafted ? No matter how good he is, he probably won't get any awards this season due to already missed games.
I don’t think Wemby can play 30+ minutes a game and stay healthy for the majority of the season.
In the one season where he wasn't injured (23/24), Chet actually played in all 82 games.
I stand corrected. He just misses a lot of games every other season.
It's interesting... Chet will probably start to get a reputation of being injury prone, because he'll have missed over 50% of his first 3 seasons... but in reality he's only had two injuries. It's just that they've both been catastrophic. Wemby has had more injuries, it's just that they've been minor, and Wemby won't have a reputation of being injury prone. Just how it works out sometimes.
Castle, Collins and Keldon all listed OUT for tomorrow @ Portland.
Wonder if Castle will get Wally Pipp'd by Devin here.
What happened to Castle?
Got shoulder checked in the last game. Continued playing with a pad on his shoulder. Probably still sore
That sucks, I must’ve missed that. Hopefully it’s not too serious.
Who would Mitch replace Castle with? Sochan or Vassell?
Vassell. It’s time he returns with the starters (which includes Sochan). And then Castle needs to take over for Champ.
I’m guessing Sochan, since Vassell has not been taken off his minutes restriction yet.
Castle and Sochan really don’t mesh at all right now unfortunately. Something we need to figure out.
Issue is Sochan has stopped shooting 3s. yes, he is bad at it, but at least last year he was shooting about 3 a game, this year, he is shooting about 1.7 a game. He is much more efficient from the field this year, but I am really worried about how his shot is just developing at all in 3 years. I thought it would be a decent fix and with three years, we would've seen some tangible progress, like 75% from the line and/or low 30s from 3, but it has not improved at all since his rookie season. His 3% is at 59% of league average, which is just pitiful.
His defence is great, his rebounding is fantastic this year, his finishing around the basket has improved leaps and bounds, so maybe the FO is looking to have him improve on the basics, then add to his outside shooting. At least that is my hope.
I love Sochan as a player, probably because his game is quite old school. He may not be a standout run and jump athlete, but he is very quick on his feet, especially sliding side ways, got quick reactions, he can pass relatively well at his position, he can handle the ball somewhat. I am hoping he can turn into a Derrick Mckey type guy, with better scoring, but he MUST shoot straighter to get there. Also, to your point scott, if he can't shoot, he can't play with Castle, and I would pick Castle over Sochan even though I like Sochan more (just personal preference).
At the same time, Castle has to shoot straighter too. Unlike Sochan, Castle is bad from any distance, close to the basket, mid range, Fts, 3s, they are all bad, but then he's only 20 and played 24 games. His form looks infinitely better than Sochan's, so there is hope, I just couldn't figure out why he can't hit his FTs.
The way things are going, the Spurs will have no problems building a new arena with all them bricks, they can probably build 3 more state of the art practice facilities along with a office tower for the Spurs.
Fantastic post. A must read for those thinking long term core.
