They can’t schedule any regular games during the cup, because they have no idea which 8 teams will be in Vegas. That leaves a gap in everyone’s Schedule. They don’t want to schedule the four first round games on one day. They don’t want back to backs.

the defense was actually decent (it helped that the wolves were also shooting poorly), but the Spurs just couldn't make a bucket for all of about 10 minutes of that game. this is what the modern NBA game looks like when neither team can make their three pointers. the wolves just made a few when they needed to.
