Hottest seat in DC, easily. Not sure it’s gonna get better after January.
Spartz cares about the national debt

I'll never understand the old man standing by this Johnson fellow time and again. He's in bed with the Democrats.
What's a spartz?
One of 5-8 GOP Reps who won't vote for Johnson as Speaker unless he meets conditions.
This could hold up certification on J6 -- the House can do nothing until it elects a Speaker.

This is the scenario where we could end up with Chuck Grassley as president on January 20th because the GOP caucus can't get its together and elect a speaker.
Is there a scenario we could elect a Democrat??
I'm not aware of one
if we're still without a Speaker of the House on January 20th, we're pretty much stuck with the president pro-tem of the Senate until the House gets its together, elects a speaker and certifies the Electoral College tally.
Trump endorses Johnson, will the Freedom Caucus fall in line?
Donald Trump gives complete and total endorsement of Mike Johnson as SpeakerPresident-elect Trump offered his complete and total endorsement of Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Monday, days before a House vote on Friday to elect a new Speaker.
“Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
...I hope not. May as well have it out now concerning Johnson.
House GOP proposes new rules for next Congress — including a 'crucial alteration': report - Raw StoryHouse Republicans on Wednesday proposed a new slate of rules for the next Congress, including one flagged by Axios as a "crucial alternation."
Among the changes to the standing rules proposed: "A resolution causing a vacancy in the Office of Speaker shall not be privileged except if it is offered by a member of the majority party and has ac ulated eight cosponsors from the majority party at the time it is offered."
In other words, the threshold would be raised from just one House Republican being able to introduce a measure to force a vote on ousting the House speaker to now that member needing nine co-sponsors.
Fine by me. I want Johnson the out of therePERIOD
Mike Johnson wins first ballot
Is Massie retiring or something? He'll be primaried for dissenting and Elon will finance it.
It was never in doubt. They played possum even though it was a foregone conclusion.
I don't understand it, but he's in there.
After speaking with Trump, Norman and Self walked back into the chamber at 2:30 p.m. and approached the clerks. They both changed their previous votes to support Johnson.
GOP fiscal principles bend the knee to the great man
You guys really want a dictatorship huh
Johnson is a little more secure now
House approves new rules protecting Mike Johnson from ousterThe new rules make it so that a vote on removing the speaker can only be brought if at least nine Republicans support what is called a "motion to vacate."
- That is a significantly higher bar than in the 118th Congress when any single member in either party could force such a motion.
- The tool was used to remove former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) in October 2023. Johnson faced an unsuccessful ouster attempt in April.
Zoom in: House Democrats have railed against the change, noting that for the first time in U.S. history the minority party would be restricted from introducing a motion to vacate.
- "Instead of electing a Speaker of the House, they have decided to elect a Speaker of the Republican Conference — held hostage by their most extreme members," said House Rules Committee ranking member Jim McGovern (D-Mass.).
