It's tough to be a good team when half of the team can't shoot.

    Sochan - 26.5% on 1.8 3PA
    Johnson - 26.9% on 3.7 3PA
    Castle - 26.7% on 3.7 3PA
    Collins - 32.4% on 1.5 3PA
    Jones - 21.4% on 1.0 3PA

More minutes to Champagnie instead of Johnson may help.

Bassey and Collins have been inconsistent, maybe give Mamu some minutes as a backup C may help shooting with the bench unit. He won't be any worse than Collins on defense.

Jones need to go in the end of the year. Can't re-sign a guy who can't shoot.

Guy recovering from a stroke plus sycophantic interim "head" coach.

Castle looks like the right pick but drafting the worst shooting guard out of all of them definitely wasn’t going to help the issue.

They're not one move away, they're like 5 moves aways from compe ive bball...

    Need a number 2.

    Need starters that can shoot.

The tosb they got this off season are better than the supporting cast they carefully drafted over the years... Basically it's Wemby and a blank sheet, there's nothing.

Better that than having negative assets around him, but we need our GM to finally make some moves.

It's that bad when Champagnie is the most reliable rotation piece for the future.
Jeremy can be a glue guy off the bench, we need to see what's Castle capable off, there's a low chance Devin gets his together, but other than that, we got nothing.
We need to stop with this family atmosphere bull . Keldon is a huge negative and still plays more than 20mpg even though we've seen we absolutely don't need him while he was injured.

Worst part is the one elite shooter on the roster gives it all back plus some on the defensive end.

I realize OKC is at a totally different point in their timeline than us, but man watching them is a treat. Dudes I’ve barely heard of playing lock down D and just lacing 3 pointers left and right. Their 2nd* best player Chet has been out almost 2 months and they don’t even skip a beat. Goes to show their are two way players out there and it doesn’t have to be a one or the other proposition like the trap our team is in.

The crazy thing is that they may have 3 first round picks in the next draft and one of those has a good chance of lottery

Too bad there was literally not a single person capable of shooting from three point range available at 8. But there were roster spots for guys who can't play basketball in the second round.

As much as Dejounte don't want to see it, this is a huge a problem.

Who's the best guy on the NBA that can't shoot, Giannis? A team full of Giannis would still not work. This idea of having a roster full of two way players that can playmake but disregarding shooting won't ever work.

3,7 3PA for Castle and Keldon show how much the nba has changed
2 role players not good at it tack as much 3PA as Manu on career average (3,8 3PA)…

Manu would have had an even better career in this era. Tony would have benefited of the fast pace and spacing. Not sure how much it would reduced timmy’s impact

It is as difficult for a team to win with one dimensional shooters as much as it is to go with a team full of non-shooters surrounding other good players. But it is also important to have functional shooters rather than one dimensional ones.

Among the four non-shooters or bad shooters in the team so far , i.e. Sochan, Castle, Keldon and Tre .. Aside from Keldon, the other three, Sochan, Castle and Tre bring more to the table in terms of either defense, passing or playmaking or a combination of these. Sochan brings finishing, defense, hustle and energy, Castle is clearly a ROY candidate with his maturity, passing and playmaking chops plus good one-on-one defense with stopper potential while Tre brings passing, playmaking and IQ to the table.

The trouble with Keldon is that aside from occasionally good finishing in the paint, he has either not grown as a player or has regressed. His 3P shooting has gone down the toilet, his defense is poor or at best mediocre and his passing has regressed. He still brings energy and passion but without the output in terms of efficiency, these are just empty calories.

The Spurs should have traded him in the offseason with his previous season's record of 20 points /game a possible sell to some sucker FOs. But after 40% of 2024-25 season, it is clear that he is a below replacement player who is overpaid and that is going to make it difficult for the Spurs to trade him except as a salary filler along with FRPs to get another good player.

As for the other three. I have hope that Sochan will improve other aspects of his game to the point that his 3P problems will be less of a liability and his occasional spurt of shooting could be a bonus. Castle, I think, shouldn't be fazed by the results of his 3P shooting this year. As his muscle memory develops and accuracy improves, he will be become a great wing player if the rest of the game develops at the pace that it is doing already. So his poor shooting numbers don't worry me at all.

Tre, on the other hand, is regressing as a finisher too. He is a mistake free PG and a good table-setter. At his best, with his finishing getting better, he can still be among the best backup PGs in the league. But if he is not showing improvement from his current state of finishing abilities, his is a good expiring contract to trade along with Keldon or Zach Collins.

Btw.. I didnt' mention Zach Collins. There is nothing much to say. His is a gone case. Chalk his contract as another of those mistakes that Wright has made which includes drafting Samanic, Primo and Branham. Or trades such as getting DeMarre Carroll.

i wonder if the other players realize this.....that they will not be part of the Wemby ascension

probably a lot of them are now accepting it??
