It's always been a make or miss league but with people pulling up from 27' 7 seconds into the shot clock, that's even more true now. Joker will make you pay for that, since he can still bang inside and get his points.

In the 3rd, Barnes was scorching hot. Instead of feeding him everytime down until he cooled off, other players decided to shoot and brick over and over. By the time they got back to Barnes, he was ice cold. The Spurs have long been a team that fails or refuses to absolutely rude the hot hand.
Coaches lost. Spurs were struggling with their outside shot in the 4th. They couldn't find enough legs to break down the defense. Usually that's when you look at the bench. You look at Castle, Jones, or even Branham or Mamu, to find four points. But Mitch didn't. Sticks with Barnes that was getting colder as the night went on. Stuck with Cp3 who's shot was getting shorter as the quarter went on.
We were up 9 with Jokic on the bench and we wasted 2 possession with Wemby's questionable shots, then another one with Castle trying to get the ball to Wemby who wasn't even in position instead of just going straight at Deandre.
I understand Wemby when he forces it on bad shooting nights when we got nothing else going, but Nuggets were dead and we just needed to keep attacking the paint, we didn't need his 3pts.
Then came Collins and we lost the game.
So they had 12 pts lead, Mitch wanted to save some energy on Wemby and put Collins in, and this dude is so trash.

Wemby... as mature of a person he seems to be is still an NBA player with a whole lot to learn. He needs to learn an "old man game". He really needs to look at someone like Pau Gasol that was famous for never bringing the ball down low and capitalizing on his 7' frame. Watch the tape... the man always shot without dribbling when in the post.
Furthermore. This type of game is exactly when Vassell, if he is who most of Spurs Talk Vassell Suckers say he is, needs to take the approach of alpha scorer. I'm not an over the top fan for him but I do recognize he as pretty good game. He can definitely take over a game if he has the right mindset. He gives us some bits of this at any given moment.
We need to make a trade ASAP to get a bonified 1 alpha or 1a alpha that doesn't give a about "wemby being the future". I still think Tre Young could care less AND most importantly will garner the "appropriate fear" from NBA teams as well as has the respect of the Officials. If we can get him on the cheap cheap Jimmey Butler would suffice. Fox is another player that could help immensely but I fear he's kinda Beta to Wemby or at least will have that at ude.
In no specific order.. Spurs should aggressively try for someone with balls:
Tre Young
Fox
Butler (on the cheap otherwise him)
Booker (not sure how they would do this except they are underachieving)
Herro
Lauri (since they suck still)
Force a trade by over spending on some elite person.
The Spurs won't because they have no balls and are playing Marty (Schottenheimer) Ball. Maybe you won't understand Mary Ball so look it up fool!

I agree that the offense doesn't look as good with Sochan playing. Less smooth ball movement with more turnovers and sloppy play. The Spurs won more games last year with Sochan out also. He's just a poor fit with this team.

Coaches always deserve some blame, but you can only blame Mitch so much when our roster consists of players who are terrible shooters. Spurs have a bottom-6 roster in the NBA outside of Wemby. That's just the reality of the situation. Wemby was terrible from 3 tonight and he really needs to stop turning the ball over so much, but he also has very little help out there most nights, and it's magnified on the his off nights when no one can pick up the slack. When you're playing scrubs like Keldon Johnson, Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Harrison Barnes, etc. significant minutes and asking a 40 year-old PG to be your 2nd best player, you're going to lose a lot of games in this league. Teams are too good.
And we lost the lead when Collins played against Deandre, ffs.

Why did he only have 2 (3 with the one he was fouled on) 3pt attempts in 22 minutes and one in garbage time when it was already over?
What's the reasoning for not giving your only textbook 3pt shooter some more looks after the game he had last night and after he hit a couple tonight?
Even if he was just a deterrent, he had to be on the floor for at least 30 minutes because opponents started to respect him and our spacing is way better.

Spurs scored 19 points in the 4th plus OT, and Mitch didn't divert from his rotation. It was a b2b, obviously their legs were lead and they needed some spark.

Get Vasell off bench and Start Julian
