This wouldn’t be a problem if cultists didn’t ruin people’s lives, tbh. We have innocent women dying because of religious zealots, children scarred for life after being molested in Sunday School, etc.

At some point we as a society need to come to grips with the reality that this is a mental disease. After all ‘God’ isn’t any more real than Santa Claus or Iron Man. A sad story all around, tbh

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. Law of talion.

I just skimmed the Orthodox Union received version of "eye for an eye."

(I put Hebrew with diacritics in the search)

(You'd have to be pretty learned to actually read and understand it.)

until 63 million women die, it isn't even a conversation for some people.

    they hate women that much.

I’m referring to fetuses already dead without a heartbeat and still preventing women to get needed healthcare, including hemorrhages that put the life of the mother in danger. That’s how unhinged the cult has become.

considering her social media posts about n****** and her express admiration for the El Paso mass shooter, conclusions about the "ok hand sign" may not be so hard to come by as suggested

I wonder which right wing wackos are swatting schools today

On Tumblr, several posts show various images of guns and pictures relating to shootings -- including the account's profile picture, which is a screenshot of a security camera from a shooting, authorities said.

A picture of the Parkland high school shooter, Nikolas Cruz, can also be seen among the pictures alleged to have been posted by Rupnow.

Other posts relating to school shootings include mentions of the Columbine High School shooting and the 2007 school shooting in Jokela, Finland.

In November 2023, a GIF of a gun was posted on the Tumblr account, with text reading, "Happy birthday to me!!!"

In a post on X, the account believed to be used by Rupnow shared a video from the 2015 school stabbing in Trollhattan, Sweden, where the suspect killed a teacher, seemingly targeting people with immigrant backgrounds, according to The New York Times' reporting at the time.

Another post, dated from Dec. 13, is a video of a person taking their own life at a shooting range.

The most recent two posts to the X account were both shared on the day of the shooting at 11:45 a.m. ET and 11:50 a.m. ET, respectively. The first one was a picture of a person holding up three fingers, resembling the "OK sign" which is also known to be used as a "white power" sign. The intention of the image was not clear.

Walmart using fintech to screw delivery drivers

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is suing Walmart and payroll service provider Branch Messenger for alleged illegal payment practices for gig workers.

The bureau says Walmart was opening direct deposit accounts using Spark delivery drivers’ social security numbers without their consent. The accounts also can come with intense fees that, according to the complaint, would add either 2 percent or $2.99 per transaction, whichever is higher. It also says Walmart repeatedly promised to provide drivers with same-day payments through the platform starting in July 2021 but never delivered on that.
The Bureau alleges that for approximately two years starting around June 2021, defendants engaged in unfair, abusive, and deceptive practices in violation of the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010, including by requiring Spark Drivers to receive their compensation in Branch Accounts, opening Branch Accounts for Spark Drivers without their informed consent or, in many instances, on an unauthorized basis, and making deceptive statements about Branch to Spark Drivers.

“Walmart made false promises, illegally opened accounts, and took advantage of more than a million delivery drivers,” said CFPB Director Rohit Chopra in a statement. “Companies cannot force workers into getting paid through accounts that drain their earnings with junk fees.” The agency sued both companies in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Spark delivery workers have been complaining about Walmart’s Branch Messenger account requirements for years, which forced workers to use these accounts with no option to direct deposit to a preferred credit union or local bank. Walmart allegedly told workers they’d be terminated if they didn’t accept the Branch accounts.

IG is crazy. Clips of what's occurring and non-censored comments.

I've discussed with my folks. We see we know. What are you willing to sacrifice to improve even save yourself / family.

I'm on my 3rd nation/language. I empathize but I have home nearby. That was point of returning.

People are getting fed up especially in Europe. When I hear - we need cheap labor to sustain the system. We need to change the system then.

Europe needs to deport hundreds of thousands monthly. Closing the doors isn't enough. Need to round them up. I wouldn't admit that publicly but would agree with it.

    Looks like AFD will win

business owners and landlords, screwing regular people during a natural catastrophe, as they do

Price gouging during a declared emergency is a serious offense, prohibited under California Price Gouging Law (Penal Code 396). The law forbids businesses from raising prices on essential goods and services, including hotel rooms, rental housing, and emergency supplies, by more than 10 percent during an emergency.

“Los Angeles County residents should not have to be burdened with price hikes by unscrupulous businesses when they are already dealing with the disruption and stress of life-threatening emergencies,” said Rafael Carbajal, DCBA Director. “We stand ready to investigate reports of price gouging and to hold violators accountable.”

Price-gouging protections remain in effect for 30 days following an emergency declaration. For contractor-related services, protections extend up to 180 days. Business owners and operators must maintain detailed records of pricing before, during, and after the declared emergency. Failure to comply with price gouging laws can result in fines up to $10,000 or one year in jail, or both.

Real estate broker Michael Nourmand told the Los Angeles Times that estimates for single-family rentals are being advertised online at around 20 percent higher than they would have cost if the wildfires had not broken out.

Nourmand said that even with rent prices ranging from around $15,000 to $20,000 per month, landlords are "getting it—and quickly."

Jason Oppenheim, a real estate agent in Los Angeles who stars in the reality show Selling Sunset, told the BBC he was aware of a landlord who rejected an offer for a place previously worth $13,000 for $20,000 a month because the landlord wanted $23,000.

"some rob you with a six-gun, some with a fountain pen"

Today, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) sued Capital One, N.A., and its parent holding company, Capital One Financial Corp., for cheating millions of consumers out of more than $2 billion in interest. The CFPB alleges that Capital One promised consumers that its flagship “360 Savings” account provided one of the nation’s “best” and “highest” interest rates, but the bank froze the interest rate at a low level while rates rose nationwide. Around the same time, Capital One created a virtually identical product, “360 Performance Savings,” that differed from 360 Savings only in that it paid out substantially more in interest—at one point more than 14 times the 360 Savings rate. Capital One did not specifically notify 360 Savings accountholders about the new product, and instead worked to keep them in the dark about these better-paying accounts. The CFPB alleges that Capital One obscured the new product from its 360 Savings accountholders and cost millions of consumers more than $2 billion in lost interest payments.

    bogus tax advice drove transactions

The DOJ alleged that from 2014 to 2017, American Express deceptively marketed credit cards by using an affiliated en y that made sales calls to small businesses. The company would then misrepresent the card rewards or fees, whether credit checks would be done without a consumer’s consent and submitting false financial information for customers like overstating a business’s income, according to the DOJ.

The department also alleged the company deceived its federally insured financial ins ution to allow small businesses to acquire credit cards without the required identification. Employer identification numbers are required by law, but the DOJ alleges American Express used “dummy” numbers to open cards for small businesses from 2015 to 2016.

The DOJ said American Express deceptively marketed wire transfer products to small business customers from 2018 to 2021. Employees allegedly told consumers that their wire transfer fees were tax deductible as business expenses when they were not.

In a statement, American Express confirmed the settlement agreement, noting the company “cooperated extensively” with the agencies that were investigating, discounted products years ago, conducted an internal review and implemented other organizational changes.

“Pursuant to the agreement and after crediting, American Express will pay approximately $230 million in total to resolve these matters,” the company said in a release. “We expect the resolution with the Federal Reserve to be finalized in the coming weeks.”

Walgreen's was working for the pusherman and they knew it

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit on Friday accusing Walgreens of filling millions of unlawful opioid prescriptions.

The civil suit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois Walgreen Boots Alliance, Walgreen Co. and its various subsidiaries alleges the pharmacy giant knowingly filled millions of unlawful prescriptions for controlled substances from approximately August 2012 through to the present. Walgreens allegedly filled prescriptions for dangerous and excessive quan ies of opioids, the lawsuit said, including early refills among other prescriptions.

"Our complaint alleges that Walgreens pharmacists filled millions of controlled substance prescriptions with clear red flags that indicated the prescriptions were highly likely to be unlawful, and that Walgreens systematically pressured its pharmacists to fill prescriptions, including controlled substance prescriptions, without taking the time needed to confirm their validity," Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton, head of the Justice Department's Civil Division said in a statement. "These practices allowed millions of opioid pills and other controlled substances to flow illegally out of Walgreens stores."

Yup, it is a certain demographic...

TD Bank hit with record $3 billion fine over drug cartel money laundering

TD Bank will pay $3 billion to settle charges that it failed to properly monitor money laundering by drug cartels, regulators announced Thursday.

The fine includes a $1.3 billion penalty that will be paid to the US Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, a record fine for a bank. TD also intends to pay $1.8 billion to the US Justice Department and plead guilty to resolve the US government’s investigation that the bank violated of the Bank Secrecy Act and allowed money laundering.

The US Department of Justice said in a statement that TD Bank had “long-term, pervasive, and systemic deficiencies” in its procedures of monitoring transactions. The Wall Street Journal first reported the news late Wednesday.

    https://edition.cnn.com/td-bank-sett...ney-launderingl
because TD Bank pleaded guilty to crimes last year, lawsuits can pierce the corporate veil to pursue remedies from TD board members and executives

The authorities did catch the original crime caper, of money laundering in 2008 and 2009. The lame excuse was that TD Bank set very ambitious targets for expansion in US markets, particularly New York and New Jersey, without bothering to set up adequate money laundering controls. In a 2013 settlement, TD Bank paid $52.5 million in fines and swore up and down it would implement the needed controls and would sin no more.

Nothing of the kind happened. From the complaint:

Because money laundering continued after the 2013 fines and penalties, in 2023 Toronto Dominion had to pay $1.2 billion to a court-appointed receiver who sued with court permission following a jury verdict that it had assisted another swindler, Allen Stanford, in laundering the proceeds of his massive Ponzi scheme. He was sentenced to 110 years.

Then, due to the continuation of these blatantly illegal practices, on October 10, 2024, two TD Bank en ies were forced to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering and violations of the United States Bank Secrecy Act from January 2014 to October 2023….Toronto Dominion agreed to pay US prosecutors and regulators $3.1 billion in fines and penalties. Criminal guilty pleas by two TD Bank en ies and several individuals occurred. More will come. Toronto Dominion’s Directors and Officers simply never stopped money laundering or doing business with crooks and criminals, even after the September 2013 incident and its fines and penalties and being sued by a court-appointed receiver on behalf of Stanford’s victims. According to the US authorities, Toronto Dominion simply continued that money laundering until it was caught again in late 2023.
For instance, the pleading tell us:

In recent years, multiple money laundering schemes took place, including, but not limited to:

    • A criminal network that processed over $470 million through the Bank between 2018 and 2021. The operators of this scheme bribed employees with gift cards to process their transactions.
    • A jewelry business that moved nearly $120 million through fraudulent s accounts between 2021 and 2023.
    • A criminal network that deposited funds in the United States and withdrew them using ATMs in Colombia. Five TD Bank employees conspired with this network to launder drug money.

Door Dash caught ripping off employees

DoorDash will pay a $16.75 million settlement to resolve a probe led by New York officials into the delivery platform's tipping practices.
The settlement will be split among some 60,000 delivery workers — known as "Dashers" — and will range from between $10 and $14,000 per worker, Attorney General Le ia James said Monday.

For years, DoorDash used tips to offset what it paid its Dashers, James told reporters in announcing the settlement.
In an example provided by James, if Dashers were offered a guaranteed amount of $10 for a delivery, and the customer did not tip, DoorDash would pay the Dasher the promised $10.

But if the customer tipped $3, then DoorDash would let the Dasher keep that tip and pay only $7 out of its own corporate coffers.

The practice was kept secret from customers and DoorDash delivery workers, James said. Dashers did not know that their tips were not adding to their income, she said. And customers had no idea that their tips were not subsidizing their Dashers' incomes and were instead helping the company save money.
