Wemby's Year 2 interview yielded a strong indicator of his view of b-ball: everybody moves the ball and everyone is involved.
I can't help but wonder what his feelings are about the egregious ball-stopping play of KJ and Vassell. This also explains some of his passes out from the post to open teammates, even (god help us) Sochan.

He's definitely a generational talent, but, also a generational sports personality with an advanced maturity and such high IQ. So glad we got him!

If anyone on this board has played any level of hoops before. They know the type of player Keldon, Vassell, and Sochan are. Offensive dead ends who just ruin spacing and flow of the offense.
The 2014 spurs offense was pure flow and high IQ plays, less scheme and more split second elite decision making. If that's what the team wants, (and it should be), then these issues NEED to be addressed sooner rather than later.

It really isn’t the players imo, it’s the system that forces these players into roles they are not fit for.

Vassell would be a good 3 and D guy, if he’s actually coached to play D. His game is getting worse year after year and the only reason is because he is forced to do things he can’t do (creation) that he doesn’t have the time to work on the things he was good at.

Same with sochan, he is an excellent cutter, defender, offensive rebounder, and yet he’s now told to stand at the corner for open shots, Shiite he can’t make. He’s best playing centre on D, and yet he’s playing like a SF. There’s no reason for this.

keldon is best used as a spark plug on offense. There is not much hope he will ever learn to play team D, but he does barrel to the rim, he does play with a wreck less, infectious abandon, but he’s being asked to carry the offense on the second unit.

Champaigne is doing great in his limited three and D role, because it’s simple and clear what he has to work on, but for some reason he’s now stuck on the bench.

Castle was playing well starting, and he was sent to the bench to rot until sochan got hurt. His game also ain’t seeing much improvement the last few months.

Castle should work so Th champaigne as both can be decent perimeter defense, while champaigne provides a great target for castle while he drives.

Vassell should pair with sochan in the second unit where vassell can handle the ball a little, Jack up his shots and sochan can rebound those misses. Vassell can chuck to his hearts delight because sochan can get them back at a decent rate. Sochan can also cover for Vassell on D. If Vassell ever gets back to average on D; they can even play with Keldon where sochan gets the toughest perimeter player, Vassell gets the other guy and Keldon can stick with the bigger heavier guys and bang a bit.

But no, the players all have to do things they cant do, so they obviously look like .

I think they list the age at the end of the season, your max age as opposed to the age you enter the season.

Wemby's defensive ceiling is so frightening that these losers are already crying about 'big men' bias before he even wins his first DPOY...Talk about pre-emptive 'voters fatigue'. Never seen anything like it.

His drag won’t be big men in general, it’ll be Chet. The two of them could easily end up splitting votes like Tim and Bowen, both of who should have won a DPOY, neither of who ever did.

This the best video I've seen re Wemby so far. Perfectly encapsulates how unique he is and how unique the trajectory he is on.

"If you didn't like the idea of a guard anchoring your team (Jordan, Isaiah Thomas, et al.), if you didn't like the idea of 7-footers popping out and taking long jumpers (Dirk), and if you didn't like the idea of the 3-point revolution (GSW), then you sure aren't gonna like what this guy is doing."

"People are resistant to change... until they start working"

the Spurs are actually geniuses to let him develop his perimeter game first while we're not contending. Cause once he starts going inside while being that kind of threat from 3, it's over for the league

Awesome video. The EPM data bit is amazing. Wemby has outperformed probably every other player who has been tracked with advanced Stats and relative to experience plus age.

The challenge is now to steadily but surely surround him with the talent that his game deserves.

CP3 has been a tremendous signing and he has unlocked Wemby's development perfectly. Castle has been a good addition all things considered and if he shows progress on the shooting front, he can a core player of the Wemby era.

Sochan has improved as a defender and is already in the 90th percentile there but shooting woes has limited him on offense.

Vassell is finally getting into a groove after a difficult return from injury. He still retains the potential to be a No 3 option, I think.

The rest of the team would need to be over hauled with placeholders like CP3, Barnes and Champagnie to remain till their utility lasts.

The Spurs must continue to find talent via Draft and FA to supplement this pre-core of Wemby, Castle, Vassell and Sochan. And it has to show imagination because there is no precedent for the kind of talent that Wemby represents.

He’s a jealous little about anyone with actual talent, since he only possessed brute force and a large body. It was the same with the lies he made up about DRob.
