There is no space for Wemby to operate.

The Grizzlies realized the players around him can’t shoot and they crowded the paint. Castle was the only one who can take the ball and get into the gaps of the defense.

We will never truly know what Wemby’s offensive ability is until the front office starts doing their job. They refuse to address the lack of shooting. He needs the space. Good lord. It’s not that complicated.

Grizzles are going to pack the paint again on Friday.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out they were straight bullied tonight.

From Pippen Jr punking Paul, Bane bumping Vassell on every drive and JJJ just lowering his shoulder into Wemby every time. The only guys that looked like they didn't mind the physicality was Castle and Keldon. We could have actually used Sochan tonight

Actually pretty interested to see how they respond on Friday. Will be pretty telling on how tough they are tbh.

Wemby volunteering to get postered by Ja on a play that didn’t count after the whistle had already blown was puzzling to say the least. Now it’s all over Twitter. I literally can’t scroll without seeing multiple accounts posting it everywhere

Since we're talking about coaching staff, Grizzlies got Tuomas Iisalo to help them with their offense.
Young Finnish coach who won EuroCup, Champions League and French Cup over the past years while basically being a D'Antoni fanboy.
Grizzlies were never in top10 in 3pt attempts or makes since Jenkins got there.
This season they're 11th and 1st in pace.

When was the last time Spurs got an impactful assistant from anywhere, not just abroad?
Instead we have Brett ing Brown as lead assistant.
We are the Dallas Cowboys of the NBA. Pop has a bunch of yes men around him, just there to tell him how great his wine picks are and what a GOAT of a coach he is after the third bottle.

You could go with Belichick or Tomlin as comparisons too. The game has passed them by but they're still sticking around. Pop should consider his stroke as a sign from above it's time to hang it up, but he's going to around and up another year or two of Wemby's rookie deal while we tread water around .500.

LOL. Sochan? Memphis would just sag off him on the defensive end and let him brick threes to his heart's content. At the other end, what's he going to do? He's overhyped as a defender. He'd be camping out there with Huff while Memphis pounds the lane, just like Wemby was.

He doesn't have the same dog mentality he had as a rookie... He gets nervous around the rim on offense... Almost never dunks it if anyone stands remotely near the paint... Doesn't back down ppl smaller and lighter than him aggressively... Resorts to jacking threes because he is afraid of contact on offense... And our coaches not doing him any favors... They're not only enabling him by never holding him accountable... They're not creating an offensive system that utilizes him based on his strengths, with room for growth... They just have him playing pick-up ball

Coaching? The big part of it is Wemby wanting to be a guard instead of being ing Lew Alcindor.
Yes coaching... A good coach wouldn't simply allow him to constantly take these bad shots... Half of his shots are from three... And half of those are bad shots... A good coach would create a system where he constantly gets the ball in prime scoring position... Put certain players around him that help space the floor, and allow the offense to flow through him consistently in the mid and low post area ( using a movement based offense) instead of hoping he gets hot from three

Not enough shooting. It's really that simple. Teams like Memphis get layup drills because you're forced to constantly switch or be spread out since everyone can shoot the long ball.

The 3, in combination with the inability to use things like hand checking on the perimeter, has essentially ruined NBA basketball from the top down. You cannot stop guys on the perimeter without fouling with today's rules, and since good ball-handlers will always get their foot/shoulder past you, that means you've got to send help or simply give up an open lane or shot. Pass it around and jack up a reasonably open 3 or get a wide open lane to the basket due to switches. The game is at its "peak" - and it's not really that great to watch, in my humble opinion. The Spurs are as guilty as anyone. The Beautiful Game basically launched this type of gameplay. There's no really easy answer that's simple enough for casualfan, either, at least while keeping perimeter defense basically zero contact.

Lengthening the 3 point line will just delay the same thing happening another decade down the road. Making the short corners inside the arc might help. Allowing some handchecking or more contact around screens would be a step "backward" but it might make the game a lot more palatable. Just my opinion, though. I think casualfan really likes this style of play and it's a business, after all.

I’m forced to scoreboard watch Memphis games because of the idiotic blackout rules. 12 point lead after the half and next time I check, down 14 with a couple minutes to go. What happened?!
You can't watch on the internet at The.streameast.app site?

its not coaching.. its wemby who decide if he want to chuck 3’s instead of playing inside the paint. Dont be blind. He doesnt even know how to set screen properly and how to get wide open after setting a screen thats why pick n roll isnt effective with him

Not really the point. We are discussing what is the counter if a 5 drags wemby out of the paint. Sochan ability to deter driving lanes on help is our counter to that.

Not really the point of the discussion. The point is what is the counter to dragging Wemby out of the paint. Sochan ability to deter drives on help. You can also start 2 centers but that amplifies spacing and mobility problems. So the counter is Sochan.

Grizzles are just better than us right now.

We have one legit star - whose go to move mind you is a logo 3 (at this point of his career), the Grizz have three stars who can all play inside/out.

Chris Paul got into one of his di*k measuring contests again and Memphis seemed to respond to it with extra physicality and we wilted.

Paul is barely a legit starter nightly. His shooting percent keeps trending down, too small, aged. I like the fire he brings and usually IQ but that was a mentoring move and stop gap - to stop the bleeding of last season’s type. The idea of starting Paul at PG and becoming a contender is ludicrous.

Grizz's org deserves so much credit for what they are doing. They are drafting so well and have hired great coaches with some new/fresh ideas. They also didn't tank at all last season despite all their injuries. It's nice to see them doing well because it seems deserved.

Spurs hired CP3 (and HB) so that he can teach the young guys for one year and also to win a few more games ... learn winning so to speak. That was never about contending.

Wemby having 10 points with 4 minutes left in the game ain't gonna do it.

Game swung when we missed 4 FTs in a row, tbh.
