The question is if Paul is going to want to move on. Tre has some value, so it's very possible he needed to be in the deal. But if it was just salary and Paul wants to leave, it would've been a perfect opportunity to move on. If Pop were coaching, I'd feel pretty confident that Fox and Paul would start together. With Johnson, I don't know. As weird as it sounds, maybe Fox comes off the bench the first couple of games. But you'd think Paul would be the bench PG going forward if he's at all willing to do that. If he's not, the plan has to be to trade him, right? They can't waive him and give up a mid-sized expiring with two legit rotational holes remaining.
The two can start together. We’re really only talking about the first 8 minutes of the game. Then semi stagger from there. I don’t see any major issues.

I read somewhere that he needs surgery.
Darn, I wanted to see him play. Hasn't he been playing for the Kings? I wonder if the Spurs will shut him down.

How will this affect the Spurs' style of play?

Wemby may do a bit more running and, maybe, take a tad fewer threes?

    Not giving up

    Castle
    Vassell
    Sochan
    Johnson
    SAS 2025 FRP
    ATL 2025 FRP

What a ing heist. It's a total bank job.
Don't forget the ATL 26 swap, ATL 27 FRP, SAC 31 swap, and DAL+MIN 30 swap with the only protection being MIN 30 having top 1 protection that BWright also managed to keep. Kept the BOS 28 swap (top 1 protected) too, which could be useful too when the Celtics have to gut the team to get out of the second apron.

If spurs currently keep everybody and don't make any further trades (including CP3), realistic lineup probably looks something like:

    Fox/Vassell/Barnes/Sochan/Wemby
    Paul/Castle/Keldon/Champagnie/Bassey(Mamu?)

Separates the two worst shooters in Sochan and Castle
Allows Castle to play with Paul as he's been much more effective playing next to another playmaker and gives second unit a versatile defender
Vassell transitions into hopefully a more natural third option/shooter role
Champagnie and maybe Mamu to space the floor for the second unit

Just sent you thought the Lakers got a steal trade, the Spurs ante-up with a steal, keeping the young core players and not giving away great future picks. I think they get to FO with this roster.

Hopefully the dude extends. I'm assuming he will as SA seemed to be his ideal destination, good stuff.

Big man depth and talent is ass while theres a log jam in the back court and wing position, CP3, Castle, Johnson, Vassell, Champagnie, Wesley, Branham etc, need another big man before the deadline or in the off-season. Don't have many if any decent bigs outside of Victor.

Obviously we have to add a big with Collins going out.

Them still having the Kings swap kind of boggles my mind. I wonder if the Spurs basically told the Kings to name any number of second-rounders in exchange for letting them keep it. They essentially gave them five, a few of which might be top-40.

He's playing through it. What I read was that he would need surgery eventually. If this ing franchise is going to rest their 21 year old star on back to backs they aren't gonna make the playoffs and should shut Fox down while they tank. Again.

It's crazy to think that the Kings once had Fox and Haliburton.

He’s played 30-40min per game the last 5 games, wonder if they just address it in the offseason.

I think the Chris Paul of it all now becomes the big question. I don't mind if they start him and Fox together, but I would love if Paul would be willing to play off the bench. But also, I wouldn't be mad if this opens up minutes for Wesley. I'm not sold that Wesley is a bust yet.

I really didn't want to trade the players people here were so eager to get rid of like Keldon and Devin because I think they are still valuable as rotation players (although its clear Devin is overpaid now) because the Spurs desprately need depth but they managed to get rid of Collins and keep most of the depth. Losing Tre kinda sucks, but also one less person who is hesitant to shoot in the rotation. We probably still need to move Devin, but maybe they can actually add players in return that will be helpful in the rotation. Maybe a big?
Wesley is definitely a bust. But if there was one guy who should be an absolute mentor to him and his play style, it's De'Aaron Fox

    Fox/CP3/Castle
    CP3/Devin/Castle
    Castle/Keldon
    HB/Jeremy/Mamu
    Wemby/Bassy/Mamu

Would want more shooting in the SL, but I think Fox/CP/HB/Wemby will get you enough. You can stagger CP/Fox for PG minutes with the bench, and close out games depending on match ups.

    It will be better.

lol. More pick and rolls imo. Deaaron to the rim will create open space for Vic to get to the rim. Or they stick to Vic and Fox goes for 40.

What’s the plan with Fox’s thumb? Fox has said he’s been taping it since training camp and would need a month off for it to fully heal. Do we just do that now so he’s fully ready to integrate?
Im on the play-in then heal during the offseason boat

Keeping both 2025 FRPs means SA got Fox, without giving up any key players, and STILL has tickets to the Flagg sweepstakes technically.

Question is do the Spurs go after wins now and devalue their own FRP in the process of a playoff try while knowing they still have ATL 2025 in the back pocket at possibly 8th worst odds so there is still what a 20ish % chance at top 4 for a Spurs team that could make the Play In?

Or do they bench Fox with the thumb and take two tickets into the Flagg contest after tanking? Imagine getting Fox and maybe even still adding J Valanciunas and or Cam Johnson too, making the Play In and maybe even a Playoff round, and then ATL 25 FRP hits top 4 and getting like Edgecombe or Harper or Jaku on top of all that! lol how much of that is possible?

I see another deal coming before 6 Feb. Too many players in a logjam. Vassell, Johnson, Fox, Castle, Paul and only limited minutes.

Still don’t know what they do with Jules/Bran Ham/Blake. There’s definitely a big bottleneck at guard, so they need to get wing depth by Thursday. Don’t know what it would cost to get Cam, but they really need to make another move.

I would shut Fox down and tank for one final time tbh. Spurs are still a longshot to make the postseason even now, might as well have two shots at Flagg.
