Was already mentioned above. But I wouldn't say they're suckers. Wright was able to give the other team what they want and maximized the value of the assets.

Bulls have been trying to get rid of lavine for a while now. Some posters here even is considering it for Spurs. I believe they wanted picks. So their own picks allows them to tank and flexibility to trade 2025/6/7/8 picks. Vs before it's locked. Even if it doesn't convey they still can't use it as an asset. They also get like 50m of space.

Kings don't wanna tank. Fox is leaving anyway. So they get a different star player with some bonus picks attached.

Kings fans seems reasonably happy. Bulls wasn't but they were really dropping lavine regardless
This specific trade wasn't that bad, but the Bulls pick they got back was given to the Spurs in DDR trade.
This season Spurs got Fox, Barnes, '31 unprotected SAC swap for salary filler, two mediocre picks and one potentially great pick.

DeRozan (and indirectly kawhi and George hill) is a gift that keeps on giving. People keep paying us to get DeRozan

Within the last year the Spurs picked up Paul, then Barnes, then Castle, then Fox and finally jettisoned Collins. Who says the Spurs haven’t won 5 in a row lately?

I don't doubt him in making deals since he's been improving year after year (this is his best season in making deals) but he needs to improve in drafting or maybe, hire someone to do the scouting talent and drafting as he did below average outside Wemby and Castle

.This ninja Brian Wright has single-handedly restored my faith in this FO moving forward
I'm not picking on you, ginobilized, your comment just made me think of how I wanted to comment on this general thread.

I think there are certain "core areas" that a GM and FO need to be good or great at to truly be a great team. They don't need to be great at all of them, but it helps if you are at least good at all of them.

Asset Disposition (aka, selling). Brian and the FO have proven quite excellent at this in the various trades we've seen. A+ here.

Asset Acquisition (aka, buying). With this Fox trade, we saw that Brian and FO can definitely execute here on a very high level. A+ here as well.

Amateur Scouting (aka, drafting). Still have to see here. Wemby obviously great with a no brainer pick. Castle looking great. Before that, a little iffy. This next draft will be another good test. I'd say a C+ as of right now.

Pro Scouting (aka, free agency and acquisitions in terms of IDing the right guys). I think we've seen a couple of really sharp moves. Picking Champ, Bass and Mamu off the scrap heap is sharp. IDing Barnes as someone we could take back for free and plug right in is sharp. We aren't usually big players in FA, but I'd say this is a B.

Team Construction (aka, how the roster works together). This is the last piece we've yet to see. This is an INC grade for now and will be until next season. Even with Fox, the roster construction doesn't full make sense but it is a work in process and they are putting it together. This is the most important piece that we have to nail, for obvious reasons.

    All good!

I simply meant I was bordering on 0% faith and now I'm at least 51%. It's been an emotional rollercoaster.
I love the data and breakdowns you bring to this rag-tag forum.

No lie, I'd love to see Steph/Bron/Durant lineup in Golden State tbh.

Spurs aren't winning in the next 2 years, might as well see two of the biggest ring chasers in NBA history team up with Steph.

Irritation with the FO has been entirely based on the Primo draft and Wesley and Branham not being good.

    That's it.

I'm about right there with you! I didn't have a lot of faith in this FO, but this definitely restored a lot of it. I'm happily eating crow in that regard!

I truly hate the Warriors. Draymond just makes them insufferable. It's been nearly a good 3 years of them being irrelevant.

let’s not go sucking his just yet, he still can’t draft and signs dumb and ty players to stupid contracts. Sign competent players who can shoot and play passable defense

Gotta be happy to be a Spurs fan with all these dumbass front offices in the league.

The Mavs traded Doncic for AD and 1 FP, Sacramento built the Bulls west, Chicago just took all our garbage to get a pick back that they traded to us for DeRozan, ATL gave us 2 unprotected picks and 1 swap for a player who’s not even on their roster anymore.

Glad some people can see the quality of FO we actually have.

Even if the goodwill is all but gone within a week...

This trade is so good it's worth repeating. How the did we get Fox while offloading Zollins, man?!

I started cheering out loud as soon as I heard we got Fox while watching the ESPN 1320 stream from Sacramento and that was back when I was expecting the deal to be Vassell, Keldon, the Sac swap, one of the 2025 picks, one of the 2027 (with at least one being an ATL pick), and the CHI pick. To think the Spurs got Fox for the Charlotte fake first, the 20131 they got out of moving Dillingham, the 2027 SAS when they're probably a 55+ win team, the Chicago first the team got for free when they wanted to let DeRozan walk anyways, Zollins, and Cissoko, holy . Sad to see Tre go but not like he was going to get minutes behind De'Aaron, CP3, and Steph.
