The trade is sus but the net effect for each team will likely be more about longevity of brand than chances to ring. It signifies to Lakers fans that their FO is willing to pull out all stops to keep them happy, and on the other side to Mavs fans that they are trash and they'll take what they are given. There's no need to get too attached to a player, just get a jersey with detachable names and numbers.

The smear campaign against Luka is actually hilarious.

Mavs didn't trust his ability to stay in shape and his conditioning, but somehow trust AD's and Kyrie's ability to stay healthy when they're on the wrong side of 30 and have been prone to injury.

    Okay
    And anti-vax

The only comparable fan outrage I can remember was the '97 Marlins fire sell and that franchise arguably never recovered

What if her end game is to piss off the Mavs fans so bad that she "has to" relocate the Mavs to Vegas? We saw the Sonics get stolen from Seattle, so anything is possible.

Mavs are also #1 in attendance this season, and never been out of the top 5 since Luka got drafted.

In terms of revenue, viewership, championship contention, ability to attract talent in the future, this is an absolutely braindead move by any metric and no matter how you spin it just for potential short term gain.

If Luka's not worth the supermax, nobody is. "He's chubby and we want to win now" when you were just in the Finals, are not plausible excuses.

There's got to be an ulterior motive behind it. It's the only logical explanation.

They would have traded for Bronny.

I can't imagine how anyone could stay a Mavs fan after this betrayal of the fanbase. This is like Huizenga blowing up the Marlins after their ridiculous playoff run and world series in 97. I know Luka didn't take them all the way but did take them through the most brutal western conference I have ever seen. This would be like the Spurs saying we don't think Duncan's worth max in 2001. Absolute lunacy and anyone who has already paid for their tickets should be leading chants of "sell the team" when they show up to the AAC next game.

I don't feel sorry for the Mavs s at all. During the Shaq and Kobe era, Lakers were tryna extend the 3peat run. Had their eyes on Christian Laettner. Nope, Donnie colluded and he ended up with the Mavs.

After the lockout, Mitch Kupcake made a perfectly legal trade for CP0 to join forces with Kobe (and Dwert was coming too). Nooooo. Cuban punk ass complained to Stern. Cavs owner too. Stern nixed the deal. Lakers go to the lottery for 6 straight years.

Kyrie and Bron kissed and made up. Kyrie wants out of Brooklyn, and wanted to reunite with Bron in LA. Nope, Mav s stuck they nose in again. Kyrie to Dallas.

So needless to say, I'm enjoying every Mav tear I see. Eff them. I hope Luka leads us to 3 or 4 more les.

Each time them Mav s see any type of Luka success in LA I hope they all react like this:

    Serves them bas s right.

    AntMan
    SGA

    Etc etc.

AD is the best player they could have gottenPERID
    That wasn't my point.

Davis, Gafford and Lively are probably the best defensive frontcourt in the league right now. Some say AD was at his best during the 2020 championship, playing the 4 alongside Dwight or McGee and imposing their size and physicality on both ends. Maybe he's able to recreate that in Dallas.

yeah honestly if healthy, and assuming they gel, the mavs should be able to contend for a le for a year or two. the defense should be insane and they should have enough scoring options to compliment it enough.

but it could get real ugly real fast in a couple years.

Agreed on paper and by sheer numbers I believe that AD will get you most of what they lose on offense.
Scoring wise. Lively is hurt and most are underestimating what Luka meant for that offense as a force multiplier. He made PJ Washington Gafford and lively better by drawing defenders and using his vision. Kyrie is amazing scorer and can run a pnr but they will not get the same looks from 3 they got with Luka. Plus that team was built around Doncuc. Max having played with AD before I think helps. But if they don’t win this year or next they won’t and I don’t see them beating Boston. OkC maybe they need Chet back …
And though Denver has been middling even AD can’t stop Jokic

Let’s say I won’t be attending too many Mavs games even if I’m in Dallas.

The Jerry thing is kinda surprising tbh.

Dallas Mavericks fanboy culture is still mostly harmless, suburban white people. However, considering the rabid hispanic fanbase of the Cowboys, I am shocked that somebody from Tren de Aragua hasnt taken Jerry out yet after years of disappointment , ese
