Fox is a good player but man eating up 30% of salary cap, that'll leave little room when Wemby's contract will also eat another 25% and we need to sign Castle the following year.
There's no "but"s. Any player in Fox's caliber/level is going to demand the max.

Without Kurt and Layne; mediocre rock bands at most.

I like Cantrell a lot.. esp his solo riffs.. but Layne owns that mystical voice of AIC

Nah, In Utero and Nevermind clear AIC’s entire catalogue. I’d also take nirvana’s unplugged too, much more memorable although AIC’s was obviously good too.

AiC sound a lot more dated today than Nirvana but I do enjoy AiC a lot

Man, I think reasonable minds can differ on the studio albums, but AIC unplugged blows Nirvana out of the water. And I say that while the Where Did You Sleep Last Night cover is in my top 10 favorite songs.

That is a bit ridiculous to say the least. The nirvana one is the gold standard, just far better songs. Better variety too, AIC unplugged is incredibly Moany. AiC were better at their instruments but nirvana had the much better songs

heres the basic breakdown of max contracts

0–6 years: Players can earn 25% of the salary cap
7–9 years: Players can earn 30% of the salary cap
10 or more years: Players can earn 35% of the salary cap

when you hear "supermax"... that more or less means that players in that second tier can get a bump and go directly to the 35% figure instead of being bound by 30%.

Fox will be an 8 year player at the end of this year. when his contract expires at the end of 2026, he will only be eligible for the 30% figure (he's not supermax eligible). what seems more likely is he will sign a shorter term deal like a 3 year deal with the last year being a player option, with the intention of opting out and then signing a 35% contract (assuming he plays to those standards)

for reference, this offseason, the expected max contract at 30% would be 5/269, while the expected max contract at 35% would be 5/314
I think it's more likely they do the Lauri and renegotiate the contract while extending him. They could be able to save a bit of cap space down the line with that move.

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, Fox is permitted to renegotiate his salary from $37.1 million to $46.4 million six months after the trade. He is also able to sign a four-year, $229 million extension which would kick in ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Nirvana is overrated bubblegum trash. They are the worst of the Seattle bands.

So with that out of the way, it looks like the rest of the league may have a problem. If we could get dumb to run the lineups that work, the Spurs may end up going on a run. Everyone tried to give this game away and the superstar talent wouldn't let it happen.

    naw. AIC rules.
Nirvana's like the least talented of the big 4.
I do like their work but no way does that group compare to Pearl Jam, AIC and Soundgarden's best work.

Felt ing good for Wemby to have a so-so first half, then we're up by double digits. Then Fox had a so-so 2nd half, only for Wemby to take it home. Honestly, I took this for granted with the Big 3, Big 3-Kawhi and heck, even Kawhi-LMAo era.

AIC (with Layne) is superior to Nirvana.
I get the popular appeal, but they were more like a band that was in the right place at the right ing time.
I give them credit for opening the floodgates to that era, but there are a ton of artists with more dynamic, complex and profound output than them, from that time and place.

Just a matter of opinion, of course. But Nirvana's at the bottom tier of my favorite groups from that period. Heck, I'd put Mudhoney and Tad over them.

Wemby will likely qualify for the Rose max so he’ll get 30%, not 25%, on his second contract.
