Think yall being to tough on this team and the interim coach. The game was there to be won and Fox did that just a little late . As others had said Wemby wasn’t special but he is the least of the problems and it looks like Castle can be a key piece on a contender. Future is bright. Spurs aren’t winning a chip this year so the goal is to develop and gel. Not saying don’t call out the mistakes by players or the staff but keep some healthy perspective.
100% agree that people are being too hard on Mitch.

No one expected Pop to have a stroke, and we should be happy he is still alive.

Mitch was never expected to be the interim head coach this year, so the people calling for him to be fired are idiots. He is doing the best he can with a bad situation

This is the kind of loss that can light a fire under players' asses. Hornets shot insanely good tonight, Spurs played like but that didn't help.

Great to see Fox maintaining his Clutch Player of the Year form. And Castle, he's looking like a special player. Hopefully the All Star Weekend outing gives him a confidence boost for the second half of the season, we need to see more of him like tonight.

Vassell... We gotta swindle him onto some team. Offseason Priority #2 after a competent bigman
You can literally copy and paste the bolded after every Spurs loss this season. It's rinse and repeat for the silver and black. You'd think after 40+ games. they would try something different. I know the coaching staff will get hammered for tonight's loss but the majority of players on this roster are either past their prime or low IQ scrubs. There isn't a coach in the world that can transform this team into a winner.

Trying to diagnose this loss and all you guys dancing around the fact that Patrick Baldwin Jr. was cut instead of suited up. Until we acknowledge this, y’all just shooting in the dark.

I can tell Keldon is deflated. It's not that he doesn't want to be here, it looks like he's lost complete belief in his game after nearly being traded IMO, and also, he probably doesn't love being here after the Spurs tried trading him. He never seemed mentally tough to me, and if he's checked out, sit him out the rest of the season. I don't see the point in playing him at all if this is all he can do.
nope this is who keldon is as a player.Bricks shots,Cant defend and not good at rebounding.

@ comparing these losers who never been to the playoffs in a regular
season game against the Hornets bench to the 2013 finals with the original Big 3
I'm glad you responded to that as I wouldn't know what to say to that take. Completely difference ballgame/universe we're looking at here with that take. You can light all the fires under the players asses you want, doesn't mean some of the players on this team can extinguish them.

Spurs have one elite player (Wemby), one near-elite player (Fox), one excellent role player (Paul), and one up-and-comer (Castle). The rest of the lineup is average role players like Sochan, Barnes and Champagnie, bad players like Vassell, and worthless garbage like Johnson. They are undersized and poor defensively despite having the DPOY. Fox being here half a season probably nets them 5 extra wins, so they’ll end up like 37-45.

When the lineup is good enough that Vassell and Johnson can’t get any minutes, or are off the team, they’ll contend. Until then, nights like this are inevitable. But take heart — a month ago the final would have been 117-106.

Are you saying the prime Duncan Spurs never shut the bed to a far lessor opponent?
when they had no room to lose anymore? no, they didn't.

Why isn't Wemby getting any baskets down low. Seems most of his shots are 3 point or an occasional 2 point jump shot, nothing down low near the rim.

This loss is closer to the season is over loss than a good loss that can turn the season around. We'll see. I hope I am completely wrong. I just want the team to make the playoffs badly.

The issue is that even without the stroke, Pop knew he doesn't have long left. Maybe this and the next season.
But with each passing year his coaching staff got worse, everyone who was any good left.
Mitch is way over his head, but the question is why is someone like Mitch even in this position?

For example, Celtics had Udoka, Hardy, Mazzulla trio.
Udoka ed around and got fired, Hardy left for Jazz just before that and he would've been the first in line to get the job, Mazzulla the next man steps in and they win it all.
Their coaching staff is full of great coaches.

We wrote about it during Grizzlies games, they got that Finnish guy who won a lot in Europe with his offense as an assistant this summer and they have 5th ORTG. Had 15th two years ago when they last made the playoffs.

Castle is by far an amazing pick. Vassell is rounding into form as a 3/4 option and our coaching staff is still ass

How many elite players do the Rockets have?
They're also starting a midget point guard and their center is a negative on defense, no rim protection whatsoever.
Switch Spurs and Rockets coaching staff and I think we'd be pretty close to switching their W/L records.

I can't believe they ing let Ime get away to Houston.

Just another reminder of the old man costing us big because of his ego.

Are you comparing the prime Duncan Spurs that won 50+ games in nearly every season to the 2025 Spurs that can't even win a pair in a row?

He's the only coach who resembles prime Pop, tbh.
As in the players are actually scared of him and know they're getting benched if he sees them take any possessions off.

If our coaching staff was any friendlier they'd be giving out participation trophies after every game.

Yeah such a strange comparison when most of this roster was still going to school in 2013. Let’s use the season that happened 12 years ago as motivation.
